    1. [PAMCKEESPORT] Re: Ukranians/Ruthenians in McKeesport
    2. Hi List: Thanks to Ellis Island I have finally confirmed that my grandmother, Zofia (Sophia) Sporniak really did make it to McKeesport. Looks like she did have a brother, which nobody knew about, that might have passed away. His name was spelled Grregorz Sporniak (typo?) and he came to the US (PA??) in 1895 to 1899, and then came back in 1903 and I am assuming he stayed in McKeesport both times. The ship's manifest has his address on a Ridge St. or maybe Bridge St.?? Someday I'll get my hands on a census or church record and will figure it all out but I am wondering about the street....also if anyone has any family stories about Ukranians/Ruthenians and where they came from? There were a few people on the ship, Antwerp, that came to McKeesport in 1914 with Zofia, Lesniak and Kolbasa, to name a few. All were from Krasna. (Between 1914 - 1918 Zofia met and married my grandfather, Demko Wozniak (they lived on 5th St.), they had a son? who died and then they had my father, Paul. Zofia was dead by 1918 from influenza. Thanks, Nancy
