Greetings All, First I would like to apologize to the newer subscribers for not introducing myself as the Listowner. I am the one responsible for the content of the PAMCKEESPORT-L mailing list. I started the mailing list for the following reasons: 1: It is an important addendum to my Web Site. As it gives me an ideal vehicle to notify interested parties of the changes and to beg for pics & info 2: It has proven to be a great source of additional info about McKeesport 3: It allows subscribers to query each other for information about family or friends. 4: It can also be used to notify others of possible events that may be interesting to McKeesporters 5: Almost anything that pertains to McKeesport is permissable. If anyone has any complaints concerning anything that appears in this list or how I run it, please feel free to contact me via Email at: GeoJenk@aol.com if it is a genuine concern. If the Email is just to rile me up a tad, please use this address: geojenk@hotmail.com ( that is where my junk mail goes ) lol I have seen many mailing lists go under because of lack of interest and the owner running it like a "Kingdom". I am trying to avoid that so that hopefully we will have a tad of fun. OK..... that is my speech fer da day!! :)) Now back to the project at hand..schoolzzzzz & teacherzzzzz Blessings, George Jenkins "Da LISTOWNER" :)))))
Hi I'm not from McKeesport ( love your list tho') -- in fact I've never been near there -- my loss I'm sure -- but would like to find out if anyone is still around that might remembert a Joseph Robert IZOD who was employed by the McKeesport School district in 1936. At that time his business address was "Ariel Building, McKeesport" He later was a choir director at Church of the Reedeemer in Pittsburg and headmaster, choir and glee club director at St. Edmund's Academy in the 1950's. By then he was known as J. Robert IZOD. He died in 1978. Hopefully there's someone out there with a long memory and can tell me about this former teacher. Joy in CT researching the IZOD family in PA OH NY and NJ
Looking for my husband's ancestors. Are there any descendants of Conrad Rouff/Ruff/Ruf and Martha Tell in the Pittsburgh-McKeesport area? One known daughter, Maria Augusta, b. 1834, Inmau, Prussia, immigrated around 1850. She married 1852 Peter Schmidt at St. Peter's, McKeesport. Their son, Peter Schmidt, owned the Schmidt Hotel in McKeesport. Maria Augusta Rouff Schmidt d 1898, McKeesport and is buried at St. Agnes, Bull Run in Mifflin Twp. There are no other Rouff family members in the records of St. Peter's. There are several persons named Ruff in the records of St. Michael's, South Side. Does anyone know these families? I had thought this maillist was only for Genealogy and history????? The only connection i have to McKeesport is that my Mom grew up there, so recent occurrence are of no interest to me. Thank you for your consideration, Cora
Me Again!~! I have added pages for the following schools: Vocational Technical High School, Fawcett School, East End School, Shaw Avenue School and 11th Ward Elementary School. Please help me get the names straight. lol So far I have been able to keep up to date as I receive the info. Please remember that we are spanning several generations. Several schools were changed as to their grade designations. Remember the new McKeesport High School is named McKeesport Senior High School. When I went to high school it was at the top of Spring Street. It was called McKeesport Technical High School and the other was McKeesport Vocational High School. Walnut Street School was my grade school and Shaw Ave. was a Junior High School. Sheeeshhhh this can be confusing!!! lol Thanks to Barb, I was reminded that I will include the Parochial Schools as they were an integral part of the area. As you can tell this effort is going great. The pages will improve as I see how this is doing. Don't feel bad about any errors as they will be corrected as we go through this project. Great going Porters, George
Dear Cora & Listers, I don't know what I did with my list & may have to do it all over again. We have some directory books that the Heritage Center does not have & visa/versa. Probably the same with the phone books. Nice to hear from you Cora & have missed seeing you in PA. Do you get out of Mass. now & then? We'll have to have dinner again someday. Ellen (ETHS)

I was born and raised in McKeesport. I graduated from McKeesport Vocational High in 1967. I'm researching the name Cerepani, since that is my mother's side of the family. My Mother was also born and raised in McKeesport along with all of her bothers and sisters. My Moore line comes from West Virginia. Bob Moore Braselton, GA
