Hi In the listing from an 1890 city directory of McKeesport I find the following entry: Izod Mrs. Mary A, dry goods, Stewart Plan, res same. Where was Stewart Plan? Does this mean that Mrs. Izod lived on/in/at/ Stewart Plan? Another entry is: Izod Henry, foreman N T W, res East Park Where was East Park? Is it near Stewart Plan? Can anyone shed some light on this - the two people are husband and wife and unless they were having "problems", I wonder why they have two residences. Would appreciate any suggestions. regards Joy in CT Can't remember if I'm still on the McKeesport list, so a private answer might be helpful.
I have found references to two marriages in my family that occurred in McKeesport or surrounding area. The first was the marriage of James Fowler and Hannah Lennington (also spelled Lenington) on October 19, 1792. The second marriage was February 20, 1794 between Thomas Dunlap and Elizabeth Fowler. This marriage specifically mentions McKeesport. I believe the marriages were probably in a Presbyterian church. Can anyone suggest how to go about finding documentation for these marriages? James E. Summer is here and it's picnic time! For those of you new on this list, last year the McKeesport Alumni Message Board had the 1st Annual picnic. It was held at Renzie Park, the Saturday following INTERNATIONAL VILLAGE! It was a great success and we hope this years will be even better. So here's the scoop......... This is for EVERYONE now..and in the future or even those that might not have a computer that someone here is in contact with. We are just trying to get an idea of how many people are planning on attending the 2nd Annual McKeesport Alumni Family & Friends Reunion Picnic.. August 18 (weekend following International Village) Renzie Park Pavillion #2 over near Palm Street 3 p.m. - they toss us out.. about 10 p.m. Catered...Dj.......Games.....Door Prizes...Raffles.. . We aren't asking for a definite commitment..just an idea. Remember this picnic is for anyone that ever attended McKeesport Schools..(you don't need to have graduated from there) and their family! Kids..parents...grandkids...cousins..even good friends of yours! The cost per person is about $16 and there will be a "kids" price. One last thing, if you live in the immediate area and have a little free time, we could use some help getting ready for this event. The next scheduled meeting will be on July 9, 2001 - 7 p.m. (6 p.m. is you want to eat) at Twin Oaks Lounge, Rainbow Village, White Oak. ANY QUESTIONS: mckeesportalumni@home.com and don't forget about the message board site: http://www.delphi.com/mckeesporttiger Hope we see you there..and remember, if you can't attend the picnic this year.. try to make plans for attending it next year!! HI Does anyone know the best way to find a birth in 1863, probably in McKeesport - I know the parents names, Arthur-- T. Arthur-- and Jesse M. IZOD and the child was also T. Arthur or Arthur T. IZOD.. I don't have an exact date however. What might be the best way to start? The parents were born in England and were American citizens in the 1870 census in Brooklyn NY. Hi List: My father has "Prosvita Enlightenment, 611 Sinclair St., McKeesport, PA" on the bottom of the copy of his Baptism/Confirmation certificate from St. John The Baptist Greek Catholic Church. He obtained this copy to marry my mother in 1942. No one knew what it was or what it meant. I have just learned that "Prosvita, The Enlightenment" was a Ruthenian (Ukrainian) newspaper in Pittsburgh and in McKeesport. I don't know why it was on the copy of the certificate, or if it's still around, but the University of Minnesota has it microfilmed from 1917 - 1975 in their Immigration History Research Center. Maybe this will help someone and if anyone knows more about it I would appreciate their comments. Thanks. Nancy
Please post that obituary to all of us. I think Jane was our neighbor down Jack's Run Rd. M. G. Stauffer

Dear Listers, I know some of you on here are actually doing family research & while sending this to other sites thought I'd include McKeesport. This is a little reminder that can mean a whole lot to those new at searching in any register of wills office. When you obtain a will for your ancestor that is only part of the search. One needs to examine all the settlement of estate papers or valuable information may be overlooked. An heir may have been the child of another marriage & named as such in paperwork. This is only 1 of countless possible things you can find out. If the will is very early you may also find that there is some opposition to your seeing the actual paperwork due to the fragile condition of it. Therefore, if you have a clear-cut line, you might not need to go further, but if you have other circumstances in question, an examination of these papers may prove to be very important to you. This is also why it sometimes takes actually visiting the courthouse or having someone else do it for you. Just a minor comment, it was a B-25. The B-52 hadn't been produced yet. ----- Original Message ----- From: <mmfred@pgh.net> To: <PAMCKEESPORT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, June 07, 2001 4:23 PM Subject: [PAMCKEESPORT] plane crash > Looked at the old McK Daily news coverage of the plane that went > down in the Mon. Greetin Listers, Please note: Hi folks, I'm going to bring the Freepages server down for part of today. (Thursday June 7, 2001) for maintenance add adding more disk space to it. I'll be doing more maintenance during the next few days. It does take quite awhile to make sure your accounts are up to date and working on the new disk. It has become just so wildly popular that we are running out of drive space! 8*) Which is not a bad thing. So if you experience "connection refused" when trying to FTP or HTTP to the server you know the reason. I should appologize in advance for any inconvience this may cause. But it will be back up with much more disk space then before! Blessings, George

Someone asked where French Street was. It's the former name for Peebles Lane, a diagonal street beginning about where Tenth St meets Market St. It's a short street. According to one Mckeesport historian, it was formerly Berlin St., but was changed to French during WWI Paul ----- Original Message ----- From: <PAMCKEESPORT-D-request@rootsweb.com> To: <PAMCKEESPORT-D@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, June 04, 2001 1:00 PM Subject: PAMCKEESPORT-D Digest V01 #70
