Fairview Cemetery is located on Versailles Avenue at the Huey Street end, in McKeesport. The Cemetery is split in half by Coursin St., one side being Fairview , the other side old St. Josephs Catholic cemetery. I would be interested in how to obtain records from there as well ! I Cant give you a location exactly but it is still active , I was there 2 years ago and there is a small house on the grounds with a caretaker but the overall condition of the cemetery is poor . With head stones knocked over , overgrown with grass and bushes . There was a new burial there at the time and I also noticed a Civil war head stone . MCKEESPORT POLICE SEEK RELATIVES OF FALLEN OFFICERS (Feb 20,2003 DN) McKeesport police are searching for surviving familiy members of six officers who died in the line of duty many years ago. Police hope the relatives can accompany a representative to Washington, D.C., for a May 13, 2003, ceremony adding the officers' names to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial. The six officers and their dates of death are: John H. Sellman, March 18, 1936; Charles Bartlett, Nov 20, 1932; Max Lefkowitz, May 14, 1924; Charles F Paist, March 15, 1922; Anthony Hlavaty, May 16, 1917; and John E. Clifford, Dec 15, 1915. National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, slated to host the 15th annual candlelight vigil as part of National Police Week, pays special tribute to former officers nationwide and other law enforcement agents who gave their lives in the line of duty. During the ceremony, the names of those officers newly engraved on the memorial will be read as part of the remembrance. Dear Listers, I've had reason to think about placing these thoughts on genealogy on the roots sites to which I subscribe, so if you see it more than once, please bear with me. I would like to give you something to think about in regard to your putting family genealogy materials together, especially in book form, as I see so much family data being passed back & forth on the roots sites. The aim has been to verify with proofs each generation when one researches your direct family lines. Sometimes it becomes an expensive & very time-consuming venture. When you put together only your direct line it's easier to quote the verifiable documents or include samples of all proofs for your own use. When you begin to work with siblings of your direct generation lines you, many times, glean good verifiable data, which allows you to place their names with your lineage on a positive note with proofs. Once you start to add their spouses, or beyond, their documentation should be added, or you should make a blanket explanation to note that additional information, not in your direct line, may need further documentation to verify it's authenticity when sharing it with others. There is a good reason to do so, especially if you are placing it in book form for others to read. The reason behind this is so your verified research does not become contaminated by errors found in sidelines, where information comes from others without the documents "quoted" in full. If you place this in a book and errors are found it places the entire work "as suspect material" for it's accuracy. One way that helps do this, that I've seen is=--- after each generation is recorded you list the proofs to back it up. One of the best genealogy books I've seen in the past 35 plus years is the Hanks Genealogy. This was done in that volume. I do not mean to speak negatively about materials offered by relatives or others who are trying to help or work with you, but they need to be working in the same manner as you or make certain to clarify what is backed with documentation & what is not. What one might do is to preface their work with a simple code, like (*) to show which names, dates & places have documentation at the very least. However, I prefer the Hanks method myself. I see so much passing back and forth on the roots site but never noting the documentation happens a great deal of the time. It's not that the info is necessarily wrong but the knowledge of its source is not noted. Please also remember to make certain to note who you have received info from where possible. This is important genealogically speaking, but also the polite thing to do. Regards, Ellen (ETHS) email: ellen@b-n-s.com Visit my web site: http://www.geocities.com/ellenj3
Dear Listers, This first site is not a genealogy website but it's a terrific all around one that you might like to take a look at for many things. HI recently joined the PAMCKEESPORT Rootsweb list....looking for info on the MOLONEY / MALONEY family that was living on Park Avenue, Chartiers Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania at the time of the 1920 Federal Census. The family consisted of John E. John Edward MOLONEY/MALONEY, son of John Matthew James MOLONEY and Monica "Nana" Mary Ann MURRAY was born about 1887 in Ohio and married Ethel G. MCCREADY, daughter of Charles and Della MCCREADY. John Edward MOLONEY/MALONEY died sometime between 1920 and 1930. By the time of the 1930 Federal Census, Ethel G. MCCREADY MOLONEY/MALONEY was married to Thomas ROBINSON, son of Henry ROBINSON and Martha E. WEST, and living in Springhill Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. Wondering if anyone o! n the list could help me find a death record, obituary, funeral record, and/or cemetery record for John Edward MOLONEY/MALONEY who died in Allegheny County sometime between 1920 and 1930? Any help whatsoever would be really appreciated. Thank you all in advance! Best Regards, >>Mark
I am researching my great great grandfather, Daniel Joseph Malloy/Maloy?. He was born in Ireland abt. 1860, came to America in 1881. He was married in Philadelphia, PA to Anna Bella Beattie on 17 Feb 1886. I found him living in McKeesport, Allegheny County, PA in 1900. His wife is listed on the 1910 Philadelphia census as widowed. They had three children, Mary, Daniel, and Margaret. I have been told by some family members that he possibly drowned. He would have died between 1900-1906, possibly in the McKeesport, PA area. If anyone has any info on this family, please contact me. I have been hitting my head against walls with this one! Thanks! Marianne Malloy Hutchinson Walker, Louisiana
