Johnston Sr., 66, of 87 Manning St. died Sunday night in University of Massachusetts Hospital, Worcester. He leaves his wife, Eileen (Thibodeau) Johnston; three sons, Robert G. Johnston Jr. of Boca Raton, Fla., Stephen Johnston of Bellingham and David Johnston of Harrison, Maine; three daughters, Noreen Wooster of Hudson, Eileen Gulbankian of Marlboro and Donna Snyder in New Jersey; four brothers, Charles, Rodney, Gayle and Richard Johnston; a sister, Ruth Johnston, all in New Jersey; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Born in Bradford, Pa., he was the son of George and Blanche (Kellem) Johnston. Mr. Johnston worked for 24 years in the maintenance department at Independent Cable Co.. He was a member of AMVETS Post 208 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1127. Funeral services will be held tomorrow from Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Michael's Church, Manning Street. Burial will be in Forestvale Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.
