    3. Hi, Sheila. I'm not sure if this will be of any help or not, but here goes: Just this evening I started reading "The Dam That Could Not Break - An Eyewitness Account of the 1911 Austin Flood" by Marie Kathern Nuschke (originally published in 1960). The first chapter gives a brief history of the towns of Austin and Costello, and describes the building of the dam, how the population swelled with workers of all nationalities, etc. It goes on to say: "It is interesting to recall that the Postmaster, William Toy, had more problems arise with the construction of the dam than any other person on the Main Street." It goes on and on about the problems with the mail, lack of boxes, etc. The concrete dam was constructed in 1909. I have no idea if this William Toy may be related to the Toys you are searching for or not. You might check with the Potter County Historical Society (www.pottercountypa.net/history) to see if there is anything in the newspapers from that time, and I might also suggest that you contact Dottie Bajor, Secretary of the Austin Dam Memorial Association. Perhaps your Toys, in addition to being in McKean County, were also in Potter for a time. Good luck! Maureen M.
