I attended the meeting of the McKean County Genealogy Society in Bradford tonight. I was surprised that no one from this list was there. There was a wealth of information there just from the people in attendance. Many of the folks there did genealogy the hard way before there was an internet. I have been trying to attract those people to our meetings in Cameron County. It is those people who have the actual family photos, bibles, letters, and more. And they are happy to share! Two of the people at the meeting were dubbed "the most knowledgeable people on the history of McKean County there is." Now those are the people you want to get to know! A representative from the Library presented all of the historical and genealogical information that is available from the Public Library and the list was quite extensive. The President of the Society went into great detail on researching a source in England for public records. A member presented an extensive autobiography from a local resident that was packed full of photos and had an interesting layout. And the homemade cookies at the end made the 100 mile round trip worth while! Next meeting is March 18th 7:30 PM Bradford Public Library. Membership in the Society is only $7.50! If you are in the area, you might want to check them out! Mike Wennin Come Visit the Cameron County Genealogy Project! http://www.rootsweb.com/~pacamero
