    3. "Major" is a fairly common 1800's first name. Maybe that was his name??? Especially since it is his son's middle name. 3. Yes, I considered it was his name. The reason I am considering his name was something else is because I have been unable to find a Major Toy anywhere in any time on any census or any other lists. I am still trying,, I just cannot find a man by that name who was ever living in the USA.. I keep trying to find him and ask every once in a while if anyone has seen the name or has any suggestions. I wonder where Major Toy was? Thank you, Sheila At 03:38 PM 2/28/2004 -0500, Mike wrote: >"Major" is a fairly common 1800's first name. 3. Hi Sheila, I am sure you probably checked most of these....In census records where William appears, do they list the birth information on his parents? How about William's marriage and death certificates? Obit? I see from your website that his father owned a hotel. There would have been license applications with his father's name. Have you checked the 1840 Philadelphia Census records? How about Titusville 1860 Census? I found this in the Genforum Toy Family Genealogy: Possibly a brother to Major Toy? Interesting since William Major named his son William Henry. William Henry TOY b. Abt. 1810, Philadelphia, PA, d. Abt. 1870 Married Abt. 1839 - Elizabeth Sylvia WALCH/WELCH b.
