Parker, 78, of 126 Kennedy Parkway died Thursday at Cortland Memorial Hospital. A native of Bradford, Pa., Mr. Parker had lived in Cortland since 1929. He was an accountant for 14 years with Parker Pontiac in Cortland and he and his wife also owned Cortland Motor Court in Cortlandville for five years, Mr. Parker later was a public accountant for 10 years with Herbert Gates and did accounting work out of his home for 10 years. He was a 1936 graduate of Cortland Normal School and a 1938 graduate of Central City Business Institute. Mr. Parker was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and served 20 years as treasurer of the Cortland Kiwanis Club. Surviving are his wife, Ethel; a brother, Newton B. of Clearwater, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, the Rev. William Greer officiating. Burial will be in Cortland Rural Cemetery. Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 9 Lincoln Ave. Contributions may be made to the Cortland Chapter of the American Cancer Fund, 25 Clinton Ave., Cortland, or another charity.
