Mrs. Muffoletto, who was born in Bradford, Pa., died Thursday (April 22, 1993) in St. Joseph Hospital. She and her late husband, Peter, opened their first Suzette's Chocolate Shop on Jefferson Avenue across from the old Memorial Stadium after World War II. In 1956, they moved the business to 2577 Bailey Ave. and, in 1968, moved it to Depew. After the death of her husband, she and her son, Peter, operated the shop until 1991 when it was sold. Mrs. Muffoletto was active in many organizations and had served as president of the Womens Association of Allied Beverage Industries and the Lafayette General Hospital Guild. At the time of her death, she was involved in planning a fund-raiser to benefit the Blind Association of Western New York. Northrop Sr., a milling company sales manager in Hudson, N.Y., and former Millersville resident, died Thursday at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, N.Y., of a pulmonary embolism. He was 63. For the last 10 years, he was regional sales manager for Archer Daniels Midland Milling Co. in the Hudson area. He lived in West Ghent, N.Y. Born and reared in Bradford, Pa., Mr. Northrop worked for ADM in Millersville for eight years before moving to New York. He lived in Laurel from 1967 to 1972. Mr. Northrop was a member of the Potomac States Bakers' Association, the Pennsylvania Bakers Association, the Allied Trades of Baking Industry and the Columbia Golf and Country Club in Hudson. He was a former member of the Chartwell Country Club in Millersville. During the Korean War, he received two purple hearts as a Marine and fought as a member of the Chosin Few at Chosin Reservoir. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. today at Bates and Anderson Funeral Home in Hudson. A service is planned in the Baltimore area in the next few months. Mr. Northrop is survived by his wife of 40 years, the former Patricia McDonald of West Ghent; two sons, John J. Northrop Jr. and Scott McDonald Northrop, both of Stevensville; two daughters, Beth Ann Vogel of San Angelo, Texas, and Susanne Draper of Costa Mesa, Calif.; two sisters, Margery Davis of Carmel, Calif., and Joy Smith of Escondido, Calif.; and eight grandchildren. The family suggested that contributions could be made to the American Cancer Society, 728 Warren St., Hudson, N.Y. 12534.

He then began a 50 year career in the petroleum industry, much of it with Texaco, in Illinois and Oklahoma. Throughout his career, "J.W." was involved with the Oklahoma City Geological Society, as a member and officer. Most recently he served as the librarian for the society's Geological Library from 1977 until 1986. In 1987, he was distinguished by becoming an Honorary Life Member of the society. He retired from active geologic consulting in 1987. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Elizabeth Arnold, of St. Paul, Mn.; and three sons, James A. "Mick" McHugh of Colorado Springs, Co., Jon W. "Tucker" McHugh of Edmond, and Joseph E. McHugh of Minneapolis, Mn. He is also survived by sisters, Lucy Stevens, Jessie Lende, Dorothy Crowley, Pauline Kirkpatrick, and brother, Edw! ard McHugh. Prec eding him in death was a brother, Joseph, and granddaughter, Heather.
