    3. Hello veterans and newbies of the RootsWeb. I have received permission from the listowner to make this offer. There are some really great folks who are willing to help just for the asking. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. There are more than 41718 prisoners on record from the Union, ( 5056 from Pennsylvania )and quite a few who were held prisoner here as Union regiments from Confederate states. There are also nearly 13000 marked graves of those who died here. I thought I would send my offer as these would lead to a great many descendants who might be looking for them.. I feel the need to say I am not in anyway trying to focus on the horrors of Andersonville compared to any POW camp in the north ..( i.e.Elmira ) or any others and do not wish to stir up arguments on this site. My focus is dedicated to ALL of those held prisoner during this war , on both sides as well as all Americans who gave their freedoms for those that we enjoy today.. I just happen to be near Andersonville so this is where I do my work Here are my sources of research. There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of 12960 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 41718 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of misspellings of the names or alternate names. I also have the continued update database which is dated October 01 2002 . . I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files.     3. My greatgrandfather, William Major Toy, died in Franklin, Venango County. However he was born in Philadelphia in 1840 and living with his mother Margaret Young in Kensington in Philadelphia in 1850. I am tracking Margaret Young to try to find a father for William Major Toy. He in the 1960's migrated to Clarion, Crawford and Venango Counties and then to Warren and McKean,,,, busy guy ;o) These are Philadelphia addresses, does anyone know what district or part of Philadelphia they are in?     3. Abraham WITHERUP I received this from another county coordinator: >>On May 25, 1902, an Abraham Witherup was lynched by a mass mob in Paris, Monroe County, MO for murder. Celia TOY WITHERUP was married to an Abraham Witherup(Withrup). They lived in Bradford, McKean County.There are few Witherups in the whole of the USA, let alone Abraham's. She is researching the story because it is the only lynching in her county. I am trying to help her. It would really help us if we had the obit for the Abraham WITHRUP who died in Bradford. He died, Obit date July 26 1899. the one who was lynched may be mentined. Any help would be appreciated.
