    3. Can anyone help me with this family? Jim Miller, Osceola, IA W1 - George Walton1 - born in 1791 in Pennsylvania and died on 8 MAR 1865 in Decatur County, Iowa. He married MRS. MARTHA (-----) THORPE, who was born in 1783 in New Jersey and died on 11 MAY 1857 in Decatur County, Iowa. They are both buried in Leon Cemetery, Leon, Decatur County, Iowa. George & Martha are known to have resided in Williamsport, Lycoming Co., PA in 1816, and about 1821-2 the family removed to Marion County, Ohio.. After son Henry married in 1838 he removed to Jasper Co., Indiana and George & Martha Walton may have also moved their with their son, before finally removing to Decatur County, Iowa sometime after October 1853. In the 1830 census for Tully Twsp., Marrion Co., OH, George (30-40) & Martha (20-30) Walton are listed with 1 male under 5, 1 male 5-10, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 15-20, 1 female under 5, 1 female 5-10, 1 female 10-15, 1 female 15-20, and 1 female 40-50. In the 1840 Census for Tully Twsp., Marrion Co., OH, George (50-60) & Martha (40-50?) Walton are listed with 1 male 5-10, 1 male 10-15, & 1 male 15-20, 2 females 10-15, & 1 female 60-70. Marion Twsp., Jasper Co., IN; Ringold & Decatur Co.'s, IA Hist. 653; W1-1 Henry Lenhart Walton2 - George Walton1 - son of George & Martha Walton, born 5 APR 1816 at Williamsport, Lycoming Co., Pennsylvania and removed with his parents about 1821/2 to Marion County, Ohio where he grew to manhood on his parents farm. In 1838 he was married to ELIZABETH CLARK, a native of Wayne County, Ohio, who was born on 22 MAY 1815. They removed to Jasper County, Indiana in 1847 and then in 1853 removed to Decatur County, Iowa with his brothers, Simon & George, and his half-brother, John Thorp. Henry settled there in Eden Twsp. and immediately returned to Indiana for his wife and eight children (2 sons & 6 daughters). He remained on this farm for 22 years & purchased a claim on sections 3 & 4 of 320 acres, for which he paid $660. It was a very desirable location, consisting of both prairie and timberland. Here in this pleasant home his children grew to maturity. In 1875 he exchanged his farm for one in Center Twsp. and in 1886 rented out his farm and moved into the town of Leon, in Decatur County. Elizabeth (Clark) Walton died at her home in Center Twsp., Decatur Co., IA on 23 OCT 1884. Funeral services were held for at her late residence by W. H. Shipman and she was buried at Chastain Cemetery. Henry L. Walton married secondly in 1885 to LIZZIE (LUCY?) LOVING, daughter of John Loving, who lived but a short time afterwards. He died suddenly early in the morning of Friday, 9 AUG 1894, near the residence of his son-in-law, Henry Oney, in Eden Twsp., Decatur Co., IA. While engaged in watering a horse at a well which was located about a quarter mile fromthe house, he was seized with hemorrhage of the lungs and died almost instantly. Mrs. William Fletcher saw his fall, but it was when the neighbors reached him it was too late. He had been in poor helth for some time, but had shown some improvement and had gone to town the day before hid death. Funeral services for Henry Lenhart Walton were held by Rev. G. M. Hughes at the home of Henry Oney after which he was laid to rest by the Masonic Fraternity, of which he had long been a member, at Chastain Cemetery. WALTON children3: 1. Funeral services for him were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on 24 JUL 1900 by Rev. Dyer of the Christian Church. They are both bur. in Greenbay Cem., Greenbay Twsp., Clarke Co., IA In 1860 Benjamin & Martha Hall, removed to Greenbay Twsp., Clarke Co., IA, where they purchased 160.53 acres of land from Willim McLvaine, for the sum of $900. By 1886 the farm had grown to 545 acres and is reported to have been "one of the best stock frams in Clarke County."
