    3. Does anyone know if there was a German Baptist Church in Lycoming Co.? My ancestor was a German Baptist Minister and he attended the Divinity School in Rochester, NY. I don't think he had a church in Lycoming Co. or even in Pennsylvania, but he did marry a Catherine Binder from Hepburn Twp. The school sent me a partial list of students and I notice there is a Johann EISENMENGER who was in Warrensville, Fairfield, Hepburn and Rose Valley in Lycoming County from 1875 - 1887. It appears he retired in Hepburnville. I wonder how my ancestor (Henry Fellman) met his wife. Possibly he visited the church in Lycoming Co. or maybe he and Eisenmenger were friends. Both these men gave the school an address of Hanover, Canada so likely they were acquainted. Does anyone have records of a German Baptist Church or search the name Eisenmenger? Lori

When would this have been? I grew up in Hepburnville and I don't recognize the names at all. No Eisenmenger descendants there as far as I know. I don't recognize "Binder" either. I wonder if you could be referring to the Dunkard Church which is on a side road east of Balls Mills, about 4 or 5 miles east on Rt 973 from Hepburnville and not too far from Warrensville. There was a large community of "Dunkards" or "Dunkers" which resided there in the 1800's. The meeting house is still there, a museum now and well worth a visit. -- Carol Courter Updegraff PO Box 222 Glennallen, AK 99588-0222 cupdegraff@cvinternet.net Locations I am researching include Lycoming, Clinton, Centre, Snyder and Northumberland Counties in Pennsylvania.
