Charlie, Although I have not tried the following, it should work for your umlaut. It was sent to me by a friend in regards to the marking in French. About the accent marks in French . . . It is really easy to get them or any other diacritical mark you want. Here's what you do: 1)Click on your "start" button. 2)Go to "programs" 3)Go to "accessories" 4)Go to "system tools" 5)Go to "character map" 6)Once you get the character map you can click on any symbol that you want, and in the lower right hand corner it tells you which keys to hit to get the symbol you want.
