Charlie, This works in Word, etc., but I'm not sure if it will work in Family Tree Maker (it didn't in my .paf file). Press and hold down in this order: Ctrl + Shift + : (colon), then type the letter. Let go of the Ctrl/Shift/Colon combo before typing the letter unless you want a capital letter. charlie, check your character map, (system tools), choose your aumlat for "a" or "o", for example, and it will tell you what sequence of keys to enter to get the particular letter with that designation.
