Charlie, If that doesn't work, use the "Character Map" application that comes with Windows 95 and higher. It can be found by going to START - Programs - Accessories - Character Map. It is also sometimes located under System Tools from Accessories. Select the font that you are using, most likely Times Roman or Arial and then scroll through the list of characters, until you find what you are looking for. Click on it, then click Select, then Copy, it is now copied to the clipboard and you can switch back to your application and do a <CTRL>-V to paste it where you need it. Charlie, This works in Word, etc., but I'm not sure if it will work in Family Tree Maker (it didn't in my .paf file). Press and hold down in this order: Ctrl + Shift + : (colon), then type the letter. Let go of the Ctrl/Shift/Colon combo before typing the letter unless you want a capital letter. Hi List, I'm running "Family Tree Maker 8.0." Can anybody tell me how to get those two dots over some letters on German script? Thanks, Charlie
