Grace, You mentioned the name of George Hakes married Margaret Meyer and that opened up a topic for me. My gr. gr grandfather was George Jarvis Eldred, and every so often I find so names that are connected together, such as Jarvis, William, George, and of course, Eldred and a few others. These names become first, middle, and last names, so I imagine there is a connection somewhere. I have Williard S. MEYER, born in 1859, died Nov. 28, 1930 at his home in Lamar. He was born on the MEYER farm outside of Lamar. He married Martha Jane (Jeanie) ELDRED MEYER on Dec. 9, 1880, at her home. She was born August 5, 1858 near Mackeyville, PA She was the daughter of Honorable George J. and Margaret PORTER ELDRED. The Honorable George ELDRED served as a Representative in Harrisburg twice, at different times. Margaret PORTER ELDRED was the grand-daughter of Samuel PORTER, a Revolutionary War Veteran. Martha Jane MEYER died at her home in Lamar on July 4, 1949. Willard brought his father's small farm in Clintondale in 1850 from his mother and two half-sisters, Mary (MEYER) Dotterer and Alice MEYER. I am searching for this line of MEYER, ELDRED, and PORTER.
