I'm wondering if someone would be so kind to look up any listing for sawmills and lumberyards in the area. My gggrandfather, Charles W. Brown, was a sawyer in Shamokin Dam according to the 1880 census for Snyder Co. One of my ancestors, who I suspect is his brother or uncle, got the patent for the first floating sawmill in 1873. The plate on the model says I. Brown, 1873. I am curious to find out if the Brown, Clarke and Howe Mill at Williamsport is in anyway connected with my family.
