Hello Lycoming County Genealogical Society -- I have reviewed the Lycoming County GenWeb site and am seeking information on Jacoby and Rienwald/Reinwalt families. According to family history, source unknown, Julius and Katherine Bohnert JACOBY had a son Otto Julius born 1 August 1884 in English Center. His mother, a teacher, died at the time of his birth, and his father, a tannery superintendent, disappeared in about 1890, thought to have been murdered on a bus trip from New York City to Pennsylvania. In 1910 we find 15-yr-old Otto living in Pine Twp with farmer Frederick REINWALD and his wife Mary, who must have taken him in either before or after his father disappeared. Fredrick died sometime between the 1900 and 1910 censuses, and we find widow Mary living with 25-yr-old Otto in April 1910 and June 1920 in Niagara Falls NY, so there was a strong relationship. At the GenWeb site I was able to find the Reinwald burials at Oregon Hill Cemetery, and I've been able to follow them in censuses 1870 forward. Unfortunately, the critical time period does not cooincide with a census year, and as so often is the case, an 1890 census might have been very helpful! Specifically, I'm wondering about: (1) birth record of Otto Jacoby in 1884, (2) death & burial of Katherine Bohnert Jacoby in 1884 in Pine Twp, and (3) possible newspaper coverage of the disappearance of Julius Jacoby around 1890. I'll be most grateful for any advice or suggestions anyone may have to offer to assist with my research, as this is my first experience with Lycoming County research. (I graduated from Bucknell in Lewisburg in 1966 and this might provide a nice opportunity for me to get back to the lovely hills of Pennsylvania!) Elsa Vorwerk in Allegany County, Maryland
