Watson Twp. , however, was and is a part of Lycoming County, northwest of Williamsport along Pine Creek. If your record refers to that location, then here is some more information: An 1892 map of the county: http://www.usgennet.org/usa/pa/county/lycoming/history/map2.jpg To track your ancestor , you might have someone check the Williamsport City Directories for them year-by-year at the J.V. Brown Library: http://www.jvbrown.edu . You can see when Lycoming Co. townships were founded here: http://www.usgennet.org/usa/pa/county/lycoming/township.html . Click on the township names to learn about their histories. So, although I have not checked this out, and don't know for sure, I would assume that both Wmspt. & Watsontown used to be in Northumberland, but when Lycoming was formed, Wmspt. became the County Seat of Lycoming County, and poor little Watsontown stayed behind. Although it's possible this particular Watsontown could have at one time been in Lyco. Co., it could never have been a part of Williamsport. The Watson(town) you are speaking of may be an old, lost, name of some area outlying Williamsport. > > -----Original Message----- > > From: M Langdon [mailto:langdon@delanet.com] > > Sent: Monday, July 01, 2002 3:56 PM > > To: PALYCOMI-L@rootsweb.com > > Subject: Re: Williamsport - Watson(town) > > > > > > Apparently there was a section of WIlliamsport referred to as Watson or > > Watsontown in the early 1900's.
