    3. Charlie, This works in Word, etc., but I'm not sure if it will work in Family Tree Maker (it didn't in my .paf file). Press and hold down in this order: Ctrl + Shift + : (colon), then type the letter. Let go of the Ctrl/Shift/Colon combo before typing the letter unless you want a capital letter. Hi List, I'm running "Family Tree Maker 8.0." Can anybody tell me how to get those two dots over some letters on German script? Thanks, Charlie

    3. Hi Kelsey: So far, I have not found any tax assessment lists. I have copied your email so that if I find anything, I will be sure to let you know. In the meantime, should you find anything regarding a George Hauke or Sarah Polyhemus (Polhamus) who were born in Lycoming County between 1815 and 1825, I would like to hear from you. 1. album
    2. Saw this on ebay---FYI--- http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1035870921 Described as: "This special Victorian album is full of vintage family photos including great shots of women in period dress, men, children and babies, plus a storefront in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. I'd like to see this album returned to the family - genealogy pertinent to the Hinkley, Masters, and Moore families - but have been unable to locate direct relatives. This album was purchased at an estate sale of a home in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, near the border with New York. Many of the people shown in these photos are identified by name along the bottom of the album page in pencil. An outstanding collection depicting the fashion and décor of the period." I am not connected to the seller and cannot vouch for them, item, or ebay----just posting FYI

    2. gary dufel
    3. A part of my family history research, I am interested in locating a few news articles in the area from the late 1950's early 1960's. I presume the papers are stored or microfilmed somewhere locally. Is there someone in the area that could either do a look-up (I have the dates) or could advise how I might locate these from a distance? If some one is available, I can certainly reimburse you for your time. Gary duf@ntplx.net

    1. Cassamer and Sarah Wittig of Lycoming Co., PA
    2. D & J
    3. I need to know who the wife of Cassamer (Casmer?) Wittig was and who her parents were. I know her name was Sarah and that she was born about 1809 in Pennsylvania. Cassamer and Sarah were married in Pennsylvania about 1839 and had a daughter, Mary b. abt 1842; a son, George b. abt 1845; a daughter, Mena b. abt 1850; and a daughter, Margaret b. abt 1851. This family is found in Cogan House Twp., Lycoming Co., PA in 1880, and Cassamer and his descendants are still living in 1890 in Williamsport, PA. All of the children in that 1880 census were single, and both Mary and Mena were school teachers. My problem lies in the fact that my ancestor, Sarah Hoke-Hovis, is believed to be the daughter of Hugh Hogue and Mary Patterson of Chester and York Counties, Pennsylvania (they moved to Sparta, Monroe County, Wisconsin, where they both died). However, I've recently discovered the "The Genealogy of the Jackson Family," prepared by Rev. Hugh Parks Jackson, assisted by Rev. Hugh Hogue Thompson, DD., and James R. Jackson, Esq, 1890, wherein it is stated that Sarah, the daughter of Hugh Hogue and Mary Patterson, married Cassamer Wittig. So, I have two Sarahs who supposedly were born in 1813 in York Co., PA and who both are said to be the daughter of Hugh Hogue and Mary Patterson. My Sarah was definitely born in 1813, but the Sarah mentioned above (wife of Cassamer) was born in 1809. My Sarah was married to Henry Hovis about 1830 supposedly in Pennsylvania, but possibly in Ohio, whereas Cassamer and his Sarah were married in 1839 in Pennsylvania. Is there anyone researching this line that can help me clear this up? Dan Harvey harveyj@zoomnet.net

    1. Re: Obituary for Charles I. Brown
    2. The Lycoming County Genealogy Society clips obits from the papers and keeps them in notebooks at their library. You might want to contact them to see if they have that particular obit. Alternatively, you could contact the J.V. Brown public library in Williamsport, PA. They keep these old papers on microfilm. Vicki

    3. Thank you so much!! I am researching the Sherwood family. I will definitely be at the sale. Sherwoods lived in and around Clarkstown in the 1850's-until recently. I am so excited!! I can't believe they sell these Bibles though. Possibly, there are no Sherwoods remaining in that immediate family. I am trying to think how the Frantz name came into the family. Wondering what Hilda's maiden name was. Many thanks for this post. -----Original Message----- From: Treebugs@aol.com <Treebugs@aol.com> To: PALYCOMI-L@rootsweb.com <PALYCOMI-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Sunday, October 28, 2001 10:42 AM Subject: Sherwood Family Bible >In todays newspaper there is an auction listed for Sat.
