    1. Re: ? Jersey Shore Genealogical Society
    2. Does anyone know is Jersey Shore has a Genealogical Society and if so where it is located? Actually, I believe Jersey Shore has its own holdings; at least that was what I was told, but no one seems to know where it is. I live right here in Lycoming County and belong to the LCGS, but no one there has ever said

All, I have recently found documents that indicate Christian also traveled with his mother (Christina Margareta former wife of Johann Jacob Scholderer, widow nee Kaiser) and step-father (Johann Jacob Sigmund) to this country presumably to join his half-brother (Samuel Friedrich Sigmund) who came to this country in 1819. Can someone look in any of the cemetery books that have been published by LCGS and see if Sigmund shows up? Most likely either John, Jacob, Johann, Samuel, Friedrich or Frederick. 3. Does anyone know if there was a German Baptist Church in Lycoming Co.? My ancestor was a German Baptist Minister and he attended the Divinity School in Rochester, NY. I don't think he had a church in Lycoming Co. or even in Pennsylvania, but he did marry a Catherine Binder from Hepburn Twp. The school sent me a partial list of students and I notice there is a Johann EISENMENGER who was in Warrensville, Fairfield, Hepburn and Rose Valley in Lycoming County from 1875 - 1887. It appears he retired in Hepburnville. I wonder how my ancestor (Henry Fellman) met his wife. Possibly he visited the church in Lycoming Co. or maybe he and Eisenmenger were friends. Both these men gave the school an address of Hanover, Canada so likely they were acquainted. Does anyone have records of a German Baptist Church or search the name Eisenmenger? Lori

When would this have been? I grew up in Hepburnville and I don't recognize the names at all. No Eisenmenger descendants there as far as I know. I don't recognize "Binder" either. I wonder if you could be referring to the Dunkard Church which is on a side road east of Balls Mills, about 4 or 5 miles east on Rt 973 from Hepburnville and not too far from Warrensville. There was a large community of "Dunkards" or "Dunkers" which resided there in the 1800's. The meeting house is still there, a museum now and well worth a visit. -- Carol Courter Updegraff PO Box 222 Glennallen, AK 99588-0222 cupdegraff@cvinternet.net Locations I am researching include Lycoming, Clinton, Centre, Snyder and Northumberland Counties in Pennsylvania. The mailing address is not listed. Any United Methodist Archive information can most always be found at The Archives of the Central Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church, located in the Snowden Library on the campus of Lycoming College in Williamsport. The college phone number is 1-570-321-4000 to find out when Dr. Loyer will be there. Seems to me it was every Thursday afternoon, or some such. Dr. Milton Loyer is the Conference archivist and is there only a day or two a week. You should call before you go there to see if the archive is open. The e-mail address is <loyer@lycoming.edu> The website is at <http://www.lycoming.edu/dept/umarch/> Hope this helps. We had a VERY NICE experience going there, with Dr Loyer most helpful and his volunteer just as nice and helpful. The archive is open only certain days and times so call or e-mail ahead. It is easy to find in the Lycoming College Library. -- Carol Courter Updegraff PO Box 222 Glennallen, AK 99588-0222 cupdegraff@cvinternet.net Locations I am researching include Lycoming, Clinton, Centre, Snyder and Northumberland Counties in Pennsylvania. 3. I know it's been a while, but I wanted to follow up on this query, because I finally found the answer! I located Oscar & Minnie Marshall living on a farm in the same household as Pierce and Mattie Walz and William Gamble in Nippenose Twp, Lycoming Co in 1920. -----Original Message----- From: Harold Bower [mailto:harold@bowerclan.net] Sent: Thursday, July 19, 2001 7:33 AM To: christie1976@hotmail.com Subject: Re: Barret Farm Pierson Samuel Waltz and Mattie Belle Case were born in Old Lycoming Twp, Lycoming Co and are buried at Buchanan Cemetery in Old Lycoming Twp. I would guess that they probably never ventured far from their home township. The surrounding townships are Anthony, Lycoming, Loyalsock and Hepburn. Do you know who was the father of Oscar V. Marshall? I have an Oscar W. Marshall in my database who was born Jan 1877. I found him in the 1900 census in Hepburn Twp. His parents are Peter & Sarah Marshall. The "W" could also be a misinterpretation of a "V". I'm curious because I'm a Marshall descendent originally from Hepburn Twp, Lycoming Co, PA. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Christie Loveless" <christie1976@hotmail.com> To: <PALYCOMI-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, July 18, 2001 10:49 PM Subject: Barret Farm > I'm searching for my Great Grandparents Oscar V. and Minnie L. 3. Searching for any information on family of Samuel Grove b. about 1780, moved to Lycoming Co. about 1825. Found who I believe is him in Clinton Twp., Lycoming Co. in the 1830 census. Children that I know of are Simon, Joseph, William, Wesley (?or Charles Wesley) and a daughter that married Jacob Park. Did Samuel live out his life there or did he move on later? Any information on this family helpful.
