Is anyone researching the ROBBINS families of Lycoming Co. or Columbia Co., PA? I am seeking info on a Cambridge Robbins who married Mary S. Richart in 1870 in Pine twp., Columbia Co. They had a daughter Jennie E. Robbins who was born in 1871. At some time between the 1870 census and the 1880 census, Cambridge Robbins died or he and Mary divorced. By the 1880 census, Mary S. (Richart) Robbins was married to a William YONKIN (Younkin?) and living in Upper Fairfield, Lycoming Co. An earlier RICHART-ROBBINS connection. Mary S. Richart's father was Jared Richart (b. 1815) who was a grandson of Robert Richart & Elizabeth Robbins of Columbia Co. Anyone have info on these families? -- Helen Graves -- Helen Graves
Is anyone researching the RICHART families of Northampton Co., PA, from 1750 to c. 1810? Or their RICHART descendants who moved to Columbia Co., PA c. 1790? Or the RICHART families who moved on to Lycoming Co.? Can anyone identify this couple buried in Lycoming Co., PA... Richart's Grove Cemetery in Jordan Twp: Richart, John d. I am seeking the parents of Hannah WRIGHT who was born 20 April 1821. On 25 Dec 1842 she married Jared RICHART, who was born 1815 and raised in Columbia Co., PA. By 1842, he was in Lycoming Co. Jared and Hannah (Wright) Richart had 7 children: 1843 - son Franklin S. Richart 1845 - dau Eliza J. Richart 1846 - son George M. D. Richart 1850 - son Arthur L. Richart; married Susie E. Byington in 1877 1854 - dau Mary S. (aka Nancy) Richart; married 1. Cambridge Robbins and had a dau Jennie E. Robbins in 1861; married 2. William Yonkin by 1880. 1857 - dau Phoebe Angelina (aka Lina) Richart; married Joseph F. MOON in 1875 in Muncy. They lived in Loyalsock-Upper Fairfield area. 1864 - son Joseph B. Richart; married Minnie Lay. For some reason, he went by the name of Joe B. Richie. Hannah Wright Richart died 22 Sept 1873 at age 52. She is buried in the Montoursville Cemetery. In 1880, her youngest child (son Joseph B. Richart, now 16) lived with his older married sister Mary S. Yonkin, her 2nd husband William Yokin, and an Elizabeth WRIGHT who was born in 1861. They all lived in Upper Fairfield in the household of an Ambrose Hyman, 46. I have no idea who he was. Any help with identifying the parents of Hannah Wright b. 1821 .. and who the Elizabeth Wright b. 1861 was ... would be appreciated. -- Helen Graves

Richard- I have added a link to my favorites, that will take me directly to the index, because it is sometimes hard to find the search engine through the library's page, especially when they redesign the page layout. Here is a link that you can paste directly into your web browser: http://opac.jvbrown.edu/uhtbin/cgisirsi.exe/x/0/49 This link should bring you to the search page. You can enter your search into the search dialog box, and then select "Newspaper Index". Then press the "Search Everything" Button. This should bring back the search results for the phrase you entered into the search dialog. I've noticed that very late at night, the search enging goes off line, so your best bet is probably to try it during the day. Hope this helps. Wow, Christie -- The Brown Library search engine is great! I found a marriage notice that gets me a bit farther along, but unfortunately nothing about the disappearance/death. I'm sure that the Brown Library online resources will be continue to be helpful in the future as I make progress with my research. Elsa- Have you tried searcing in the newspaper indexes located on the J.V. Brown Library's website? Someone mentioned this index on this mailing list several months ago, and I have found it to be a useful source for many Lycoming County marriages and deaths. They have an index of the microfilms of the Williamsport Sun-Gazette (the current paper's name) and all it's predecessors. If the news was published locally, you may find entries there. Then you can go to that library to look at the microfilms or write to the library for copies. The address of the search engine is: http://opac.jvbrown.edu/uhtbin/cgisirsi.exe/x/0/49 And the address of the library's website is: http://www.jvbrown.edu/ Hope you find what you're looking for. According to family history, source unknown, Julius and Katherine Bohnert JACOBY had a son Otto Julius born 1 August 1884 in English Center. His mother, a teacher, died at the time of his birth, and his father, a tannery superintendent, disappeared in about 1890, thought to have been murdered on a bus trip from New York City to Pennsylvania. In 1910 we find 15-yr-old Otto living in Pine Twp with farmer Frederick REINWALD and his wife Mary, who must have taken him in either before or after his father disappeared. Fredrick died sometime between the 1900 and 1910 censuses, and we find widow Mary living with 25-yr-old Otto in April 1910 and June 1920 in Niagara Falls NY, so there was a strong relationship. At the GenWeb site I was able to find the Reinwald burials at Oregon Hill Cemetery, and I've been able to follow them in censuses 1870 forward. Unfortunately, the critical time period does not cooincide with a census year, and as so often is the case, an 1890 census might have been very helpful! Specifically, I'm wondering about: (1) birth record of Otto Jacoby in 1884, (2) death & burial of Katherine Bohnert Jacoby in 1884 in Pine Twp, and (3) possible newspaper coverage of the disappearance of Julius Jacoby around 1890. I'll be most grateful for any advice or suggestions anyone may have to offer to assist with my research, as this is my first experience with Lycoming County research. (I graduated from Bucknell in Lewisburg in 1966 and this might provide a nice opportunity for me to get back to the lovely hills of Pennsylvania!) Elsa Vorwerk in Allegany County, Maryland
Christie, I was interested in your answer to Elsa. I have tried on and off over the past couple of years to view the on line card file, but without any luck. Hello Lycoming County Genealogical Society -- I have reviewed the Lycoming County GenWeb site and am seeking information on Jacoby and Rienwald/Reinwalt families.
