    2. Connie, I remember a book that my brother-in-law has that has data on all the schools in Lycoming County. I don't know the name or author , however I will be visiting my sister next week and will try to look for it. Any specific data that you are looking for? Hope I can find something for you. Delores

    3. Margaret, More power to you and your volunteers. Wouldn't it be great if a genealogy or history society in every county in the US would take on a project like this. Here in California, starting last January, many of the county records are being indexed for the pre 1905 death records. After this is finished the birth and marriage records will be worked depending on volunteers. You might want to take a look at http://www.rootsweb.com/~cabf1905 Richard Finn Looking for the ancestors and descendants of Abner Clark (who married Elizabeth Fausey) of the Williamsport area. 1. Harris/Scott/Hopkins/Dean
    2. John Russell-Curry
    3. Greetings, I'm just joining your list and researching the Harris/Scott line. My great, great grandmother Margaret Harris was born in Loyalsock, near Williamsport, Lycoming Co., PA in 1810. Her grandparents were John Harris and Susanna Scott. John born 1759, Susanna born 1769. John's parents were Samuel Harris and Margaret HOPKINS and Susannah's parents were Henry Scott and Mary DEAN. This family was all Quaker, from Deer Creek, MD before coming to PA. I had some success in locating information in a DAR book in the genealogy library while visiting a few years ago, but I have not been able to establish the father of my Margaret Harris, or mother. Due to our family information we knew the names of the people her aunt and uncle married and were able to establish this is the correct family. But there are two sons who could be her father, and not a trace of them to help establish the relationship. I am hoping that perhaps someone who lives in the area, or is familiar with researching this area can assist me in locating something about one of these men to link to my Margaret. The men are: Henry born 1788 and John born 1796. Henry is the most likely I think because Margaret had 8 sons. The first son was named for her husband William. The second son was named Henry. No son was named John. Any help in locating information on Henry Harris born 1788 to John Harris and Susanna (Scott) Harris and who he married would be a huge breakthrough in this brickwall. Pattee

    3. I would like to welcome those of you new to this site and tell you there are some really great folks who are willing to help just for the asking. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. There are Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. There are more that 4274 prisoners on record from the state of Pennsylvania and more than 1800 who died here, I thought I would send my offer. Here are my sources of research. There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of some 13000 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of misspellings of the names or alternate names. I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files. I would like to let you know of another service I offer which is to take photos of graves for a small fee. If there is anything I can do in helping your research at Andersonville, please just ask.
