    3. Hi ! Sorry I don't know anything about Robert's parentage. I just have a curiosity question. Does anyone know who Lorenzo Dow was? My husband's gg grndfthr was named Lorenzo Dow Leamy, b. cir 1812 Pa. There seems to be a lot of people in that era with the name Lorenzo, many with Dow combined. Anyone out there know the answer? 3. My great grandfather, William Frank SHANE, was born 2 Feb 1843 in Lycoming County, PA. His mother was Elizabeth STARR, b Aug 1825, daughter of William and Catherine STARR and who later married William H. PAINTON, son of Isaac and Ruth PAINTON. I am trying to find who the father of William Frank was. I also need to find where Elizabeth PAINTON was buried. I think she died 19 Mar 1902 possibly in Hughsville. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Bonnie

    3. My husbands gr gr grandmother was Hannah VanBuskirk b Apr 1831 in PA. She married Henry Holmes 23 Oct 1856 in Kankakee Co. IL. Henry was originally from Lycoming County also. His father was Peter Holmes and Mary Craft Holmes. Henry's brother Joseph married Abigail VanBuskirk about 1847 in PA. She was born Jul 1829. I think Hannah and Abigail were sisters, but I am trying to find who their parents were. Could they be daughters of Thomas and Roseanna VanBuskirk? Both of these Holmes families moved to Illinois and later to Cherokee County Kansas. Any info on the VanBuskirk and Holmes families would be greatly appreciated. Bonnie

    2. Robert Woodley
    3. Pat: Thanks for your response. My main interest is in the family of Matthias WOODLEY (b. 1755, d. 1825) who lived most of his life in Muncy and is buried in St. James Episcopal Church in Muncy. One of his daughters named Kenerchy (also spelled Cornichey in some Orphan's Court documents), married William VAN BUSKIRK, and the OC documents state that Cornichey had died by 1831. Furthermore, the 1852,53,54 vital records for Lycoming County indicate that a son of William and Kenerchy named Richard Van Buskirk, married a Barbara Worthington on Nov 28, 1852. My interest is in learning more about William Van Buskirk (dates, children, marriages, etc.) and his son Richard. I believe there may have been a close relationship between the Van Buskirks and Woodleys for the 1840 census shows that William and Thomas Van Buskirk were neighbors of Richard Woodley (a son of Matthias), and an OC record show that S. Van Buskirk acted as surety for the estate of Richard Woodley. These are tantalizing bits that arouse my curiosity about the Van Buskirks. I'm also intrigued by the name of Kenerchy. It's so unusual, I wonder if it's a surname that has been taken as a given name. Do you have any thoughts about it? Bonnie Desenfants and I have been exchanging Van Buskirk information, and I assume she'll let you know the links she's searching. 1. Lycoming County Vitals
    2. Robert Woodley
    3. While visiting the JV Brown library a couple of weeks ago, I found a folder about Lycoming County vitals titled: "Births, Deaths, Marriages, 1852-1853-1854, Compiled by Rhoda (English) Ladd from Microfilm Roll #148, Records located on file at William Penn Memorial Museum & Archives Bldg, Harrisburg PA. Microfilm ed. of the Vital Statistics 1825-54 record group. Records of the Dept. of State 1681-1975." Can anyone tell me the background of this listing? How far back were vitals kept and what vitals are available for Lycoming County? What is on microfilm roll #148? Why were only three years included in this listing? Any plans to extend a listing for Lycoming County beyond these three years? Etc. Curious, and anxious to learn more. Robert, from Bloomington Indiana

    2. Robert Woodley
    3. Bonnie: Two weeks ago I traveled to Lycoming County (and to the National Archives also) to search out some Woodley roots. While at St James Episcopal Church in Muncy I was looking through old records and found the following among their burial records: "At a meeting of the congregation of St. James, Abigail Van Buskirk died, Aug 4, 1852 born, Jul 29, 1768 Widow of Thos. Van Buskirk, she died at Hughesville with burial at Muncy." I know this doesn't add anything to your search for connections with Hannah Van Buskirk so perhaps I haven't given you any new info. Is there any chance that Hannah and Roseanna are the same person? It appears that William Van Buskirk was married twice: to Kenerchy (Woodley) Van Buskirk and to Henrietta Van Buskirk. Of his children do you know which were of Kenerchy and which of Henrietta? The name Kenerchy is unusual - do you have any suggestion of its origin? Best wishes, Robert-

Ive been on for a > couple of weeks and i think ive gotten 3 messages.. 2 of which were mine. > Anybody there? What families are yall researching? > Adrienne. Hello Adrienne, You're right, this list has been sparse - thanks for asking. My Lycoming Co. family is that of James YEAGER (alias John Benjamin ADAMS) (1849-1926) and his wife Margaret Rebecca (nee TROUT) ADAMS(1856-1926). Their children are: -Annie Mayze 1877-1956, mar. Stoughton WALKER & "Frankie" FRANKENBURGER -Julia Ann 1880-1956, mar. Fred ASHWORTH -Minnie Rebecca 1882-1942, mar. Willard PRATT -John Trout 1883-1952, mar Mary Edith KIRK -Maude May 1885-1967, not mar. -Loyd Albert 1887-1896, I know nothing about his death -Lee Russell 1889-1977, mar. Emma TATE -Percie Palmer 1893-1978, mar. Betty ? and 2 others -Mamie 1896-1981, mar. Irving MILLER -Omer Paul 1902-1984, mar. ? James YEAGER was a canal boatman for some time on the Schuylkill Navigation and possibly other canals. Great-grandpa James is one our family's question marks; something he did, we're not sure what, while working on the canal made him change his name to John Benjamin ADAMS. He may have also served in the Civil War and perhaps "something" he did then is why he changed his name. We're all curious, but the relatives who might know have passed away. There is an infant buried in Philadelphia in the Levering Cemetery (near the Manyunk Canal) named Adam Adams, died 1875 age 6 months; no parents listed on the death certificate. We're not sure if/how this child is connected with our family. James was using his alias when he married Margaret "Maggie" TROUT in 1871 on a canal boat in Schuylkill Haven, Schuylkill Co. His father was Jacob YEAGER, no dates, and his mother was Elizabeth or Hannah KREBS/KREPS, no dates. Eliz/Hannah had been previously married to Tom WATTS and had 3 sons by this first husband: George, Pete and Tom. This is sketchy info from a hand- written chart. John B. ADAMS raised his family on a farm near Jersey Shore. We have a photo of the family in front of their "chunk house" on Pine Creek. My late grandmother told us a "chunk house" had vertical boards (they look like 4x4s) that could be taken out in the hot summer for ventilation. Apparently the house was also moved at one time. Sometime I'd like to visit and see if we can find this house, but I'm way over near Philly with a busy life. Most of great-grandpa's children scattered. Margaret Rebecca TROUT's parents were Albert TROUT and Julia Ann BILLGER; their parents were Albert TROUT/Anna and Joseph BILLGER/Sarah MATTHIERS. Maggie was born in Reading, but the family also lived in Schuylkill Co. and Philadelphia. I would like to know more about this family's ancestry and also its descendants. Regards, Joan
