Hi All, Could anyone help me with information about what churches existed in the Muncy Twp. and/or Lycoming County area during the time period 1770 to 1830. Or, where could I find that out. I am trying to find out where our Hampton family might have gone for marriages. Is it likely they might have gone into another county??? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks to all, Judy

I am looking for the parents of my ancestors Benjamin and Amos WRIGHT from Bucks County, PA, most likely in the area of Falls Township. There were four children in the family that we know about: Amos S. WRIGHT (b. 19 Oct 1790) who married Mary ENGLISH. Benjamin WRIGHT (b. 12 Apr 1794) who married Eunice FARNSWORTH in Lycoming County and was first married to an unknown woman in Bucks County. Thomas WRIGHT (b. 8 Sep 1796) who married Ann ENGLISH, sister of Mary ENGLISH. Mary WRIGHT (b. 1796 may have been 1780) who married Joseph MILNOR. Rebecca WRIGHT. At least Amos, Benjamin, and Mary eventually moved into Upper Fairfield Township, Lycoming County, PA. Thomas' family settled in Columbia County, PA. Mary WRIGHT came to Lycoming County in the Fall of 1819 according to a History of Lycoming County. A grave monument erected by Joseph WRIGHT MILNOR to honor his parents, Mary WRIGHT and Joseph MILNOR, noted that Mary WRIGHT MILNOR was a devout Quaker. There is also evidence that Thomas WRIGHT and Ann ENGLISH continued in the Quaker tradition. Amos and Benjamin do not appear to have been practicing Quakers as adults. We have scoured Quaker meeting records to no avail. We've found only one family that is a possible connection. They are listed in the Salem Monthly Meeting: Benjamin WRIGHT (1735-1811) and Ruth (1734-1813) There children were: Elizabeth, Stephen, Nathan, Peter, George, Thomas, William and Benjamin. Their child, Thomas WRIGHT (b. 1772), is a possibility for being the parent of these children. Has anyone researched this WRIGHT family? We have found MILNORs in the Falls Meetings but cannot find a connection. Any information would be much appreciated. Thank you. ******************************************** Harold and Cheryl Bower 3704 Kingsford Place Valrico, FL 33594-6901 [email protected] ******************************************** Surnames: BAUER/BOWER, SITLER, WRIGHT, BEACH, FAHLFEDER, MILHEIM, MOYER, SHAFER, PETRIKS, FISHER, LUDWIG, BIDELSPACHER, WALTZ, WURSTER, METZGER, HEIM, BLAKER, PIDCOE, MARTZ, SHEETS, BALL, MILLER, FRIEDERICH, GREENE, ADERHOLD, STOLTZ, ORICH, GUINTER, WAGNER and WEISEL ********************************************

This family is buried where my ancestors, William Miller BOWER and Mary Ann BALL, and their children are buried - Quaker Hill Cemetery, Eldred Twp, Lycoming Co, PA. My immigrant ancestors were John BALL and his son, William BALL. John and William came from England and settled in Hillsgrove, Sullivan Co, PA. They arrived in the USA in 1793. That same year, John drowned while bathing in the Loyalsock Creek. (So much for the promise of a new life in a New World.) His children were: Anne, John, William and Mary. My ancestor is John's son, William, born 21 Sep 1778 in England. This we know from a history of Lycoming County by John F. Meginness. William moved from Sullivan Co to Hepburn Twp, Lycoming Co, where he ran the grist and saw mill at Balls Mills. He died 8 Jul 1866. His wife was Catherine WEISEL (13 Aug 1793 to 25 Dec 1869). She was born in Bedminster Twp, Bucks Co, PA, a daughter of George WEISEL and Elizabeth HONIG, who were active at the Tohickon Union Church. Their children were: Isaac, George William, John, Samuel, Elizabeth, William, Mary Ann, Jacob, Joseph, Sarah and Jane. My ancestor is Mary Ann BALL who married William Miller BOWER. Mary Ann's brother, Samuel BALL, invented the grain cradle. The cradle was a wooden apparatus that was attached to a scythe. As you cut grain with the scythe, the cradle collected the cut grain so you could quickly tie off a sheaf when the cradle was full. This was a great improvement over cutting grain to the ground then having to gather it into a sheaf. The cradle was sold all over the USA until mechanical harvesting eliminated the need for it. The cradles were manufactured in a factory in Hepburn Twp, Lycoming Co, PA. Most of Samuel's siblings worked in some fashion in the business and build homes in the vicinity of the factory along what is now RT 973 E in Hepburn Twp. Is anyone researching this line, or know how John BALL is connected with other BALL lines. Any help would be appreciated. ******************************************** Harold Bower 3704 Kingsford Place Valrico, FL 33594-6901 [email protected] ******************************************** Surnames: BAUER/BOWER, SITLER, WRIGHT, BEACH, FAHLFEDER, MILHEIM, MOYER, SHAFER, PETRIKS, FISHER, LUDWIG, BIDELSPACHER, WALTZ, WURSTER, METZGER, HEIM, BLAKER, PIDCOE, MARTZ, SHEETS, BALL, MILLER, FRIEDERICH, GREENE, ADERHOLD, STOLTZ, ORICH, GUINTER, WAGNER and WEISEL ********************************************
Can anyone help me figure out what part of Lycoming County my Henry WOLFE was born? I don't know where to search. He was born 3/8/1825, although his obituary says 1826. Have seen both dates in documents. I need to know who his parents were too. I wished I knew his middle name was, even an initial would be helpful. I believe the family was Brethren. He was married, first to Catherine WALIS on 1/11/1850 possibly, in Lycoming. They had 4 children: Mary, Jennie, Jerome & ____. Catherine died. His second wife's name was Anna Mary CAMERON. He married her on 1/1/1861. They had 6 children. The first three born in Lycoming, the next 3 were born in Jewel County, Kansas where the family moved to in 1870. My head hurts from hitting it against this brickwall. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kathy

I still don't know who his parents were. I also wished I knew his middle name. There is some discrepancies on the year of his birth. I have seen it in print for both 1825 & 1826. I believe 1825 is correct. He was married twice. His first wife's name was Catherine WALIS. They were married on 1/11/1850 probably in Lycoming County. They had 4 children. Two survived him. I know the names of three of the four: Mrs. P. J. LACOMBRE nee Jennie HOOD nee Jennie WOLFE, Mary ZIMMERMAN nee Mary WOLFE, & Jerome. His second wife's name was Anna Mary CAMERON. They married 1/1/1861. They had 6 children: Amelia Bethada, William Henry, Samuel Sylvester, Torrence Monotte, Lemuel Edgar & Frederich Ervin. The first three children of this marriage were born in Lycoming, possibly Williamsport area. The last 3 were born in Jewel County, Kansas. Henry & Anna Mary, along with her parents & siblings moved from PA in 1870 & passed thru Freeport area, Stephenson County, Illinois on their way to Buffalo Twp., Jewell County, Kansas by 1871. Anna Mary's younger sister, Rebecca Christian CAMERON was married to a Daniel Sylvester WOLFE. I'm not sure what the relationship is, if any, between the two WOLFE men. Daniel was born 3/29/1840 in Lycoming Co., PA. I'd love to hear from any of you that might think they have Henry's parents names or anything they think might help me in my search. Thanks, Kathy --part0_918716068_boundary--

Also listed were her children: George 20 PA (married within one year) Savilla 20 PA (married within one year) Robert 17 PA Barbara 15 PA Sarah 10 PA Savilla was the former Savilla FRY, new wife of George WORTHINGTON. Hi everyone, This mailing list has been extremely quiet lately. There is currently not much on-line in the way of resources for Lycoming County researchers. I would like to know if you have in your possession any resources, i.e. cemetery transcriptions, census records, index's to wills/deeds, history books, etc... that you would be willing to provide for a website for Lycoming County. Do you live in the county and have access to a cemetery that you could transcribe? Would you be willing to transcribe census records? Lycoming is one of the "Mother" counties and has a grand history. Would you be willing to contribute resources for a premier website? Please reply directly to me and not to the list. Thanks! Nate Nathan Zipfel Lycoming County Listmaster
Francine- Did you check the 1790 Pa census for location/ There is a Henry in Hellam twp York Co 3 male over 16, 1 fem. One Henry and family in Northhumberland Co 1 male over 16, 1 m under 16 and four females. This is the Conn spelling Betty Updegrave
Despite what the DAR Patriot Index says... PA Archives, Series Six, Vol II printed 1906 p. 673 "The Return of Capt. Comfort Company for the Yere (that's the spelling) 1782 County of York" lists Henry CONN (there's also a John CONN) ===== There is no KAHN/KANN listed in this source on this page. Even though everyone misspelled back then, I'm trying to find out for sure if the Henry Conn who married Johanna Burt fought in the American Revolution. I really don't care if the answer is YES or NO. I just want to know for sure. The Nicholas KANN line claims the Henry CONN listed under Capt. Comfort as their Johann Heinrich Kann, son of Nicholas Kann. How do we know? I'd appreciate some discussion about this. Perhaps locating the below CONNS in PA would help. Please be patient, list members, with my obsession on this line. It's just a surprise that no one on the list has seen or heard from them with so many of them staying in PA. Questions: 1. Is the Henry Conn who married Johanna Burt the same as the Henry C-O-N-N who served in the American Revolution according to PA Archives 6th Series, Vol. II p. 485, as a member of Capt. Jacob Comfort's Co. 3rd Battalion in York Co. in 1782? 2. Is Johanna Burt the mother of Henry's children? Is BURT her maiden name or was she married before Henry? 3. Is Henry CONN related to the Nicholas KANN of York Co.? 4. Looking for information on Henry's children born in PA (see below) ========== The story goes...Henry Conn came to America with his father, mother and brother prior to 1780. Family legend says two Henry Conns fought in American Rev. were father and son. For York Co., Henry & Johanna moved to Buck's Co. and reared a family of seven children, at least six of which were traced as having matured and married while living in PA. Five of Henry's children and their families, exhibited an overpowering urge to improve their lot (a Conn characteristic) and emigrated to Indiana to wrest from the wilds of mother nature and the Indians, a homestead and a rich new life...They did not leave together as a group, but individually, arriving in Indiana between the years of 1833 and 1857. Well, it has been a few weeks and I thought that it was time I repost what I am researching for the benefit of those folks that are new or that have just come back from the holidays and see if there is anyone out there that can shed some new light on things. As you can see some progress has been made as far as personal information but still no information on the children of Johann Conrad Lorsbach. Hope there is someone out there that can help add some information. Bob Descendants of Johannes Lorsbach Generation No. 1 1. JOHANNES1 LORSBACH died 1731. JOHANN HENRICH2 LORSBACH (JOHANNES1) was born 1678 in Lampertheim, Germany, and died August 31, 1729. He married ANNA CHRISTINA. Notes for JOHANN HENRICH LORSBACH: He was a Lutheran Parson. Two new misspellings connected to his name. LORSBACHEUR and the other is LORSBACHIO. These two spelling have been connected to Johann Hennrich ONLY. The second misspelling PASTORE JOHANNE HENRICO LORSBACHIO was used himself when he made his first entry into the church register in 1714. Children of JOHANN LORSBACH and ANNA CHRISTINA are: i. The family that he acted as godfather for was Johann Georg and Anna Maritha Hauck. The little one was also named Johann Conrad, of course.
