Sons James, Isaiah, Samuel. Actually, my family information on the web site is connected with the "other" Solomon Gottshall, the wagon maker in Williamsport. I wish the site was more comprehensive, and I'll be adding updated information soon. > Charlie, > > This is a very comprehensive web site about your family you will probably > find what you need there. > > http://www.nayzak.com/~jgott/family/gtmain.htm > > On my own web site listed below I have a whole section devoted to the > Blooming Grove Area and its descendants. Charlie, This is a very comprehensive web site about your family you will probably find what you need there. http://www.nayzak.com/~jgott/family/gtmain.htm On my own web site listed below I have a whole section devoted to the Blooming Grove Area and its descendants. Let me know if I can help any further. Best of Luck, Kevin L. Gustavus Schultze/Schultz and Solomon Gottschall, both from the Hepburn Twp./ Blooming Grove area of Lycoming County. My Solomon Gottschall is not the wagon maker from Williamsport but a laborer / farmer. I would like to hear from anybody having any information or doing the same research. I am looking for information on Lewis SISLER and his descendants. Lewis emigrated from Germany and arrived in Boston in about 1775. He stayed in the Boston area briefly, making his way to Lancaster County, then Lycoming County, PA. Lewis died in about 1820. He was a teacher, Presbyterian and served in the War of 1812. His children were: George, Nicholas, Lewis, Houston, Betsey, and Mary. Lewis may have had two brothers - George and James - who moved on to Upper Canada about 1800. I have found a Huston and a Lewis SCISLOR in the 1820 Census in Muncy twp, Lycoming County. These would be Lewis's sons. The information on Lewis matches what I have for my Lewis Sisler (b 1788 Lycoming County, d 1851 Erie County, NY) who married Margaret MARSH in about 1812. Margaret was the daughter of a George MARSH. Lewis and Margaret had sons George (1814), Houston (1815), John (1817), William (1819), Thomas (1821), Adam (1823) and possibly Charles (1828) before moving to Aurora, Erie County, New York. Lewis, Margaret and all 7 sons show up in the 1830 census in Aurora, NY. Any information would be appreciated.
Hi Pat. Here's what I have on the Blackburn family. It'll show you at least one way that they tie into the CONN line. Can't help you on the St. Clair line. BTW, David Conn & Anna Burnham are my direct line, so I could help you if it turns out you are connected. Francine Conn Halter wrote about a Henry Conn of Lycoming County who married Elizabeth St Clair, born 1794. Does anyone have info on the siblings or parents of Elizabeth? In my database I have a Ruth Scott, born 23 May 1789, daughter of Joseph Scott of Lycoming County. Ruth married a St Clair (first name unknown) and had a daughter Susannah St Clair who married James Lamar Blackburn. In 1862, James and Susannah were living in Logansport, Cass Co IN. I'd like to know Ruth's husband's name and the names of his parents. Ruth's Scott's sister Susannah (1787-1826) was my ancestor. She married Samuel Pittenger. Samuel and Susannah's granddaughter, Sarah Pittenger, was my g-g-grandmother. On the back of a photo it says her name was Sarah Emma St Clair Pittenger. This seems odd since it would have been Sarah's grandmother's sister's married name that was St Clair. So I'm wondering if there was another connection between the Pittengers and St Clairs. Hello Dorie, Just something to keep in mind - there were many Van Dykes in the Allentown area of Lehigh Co. and at least one family in Whitemarsh Twp., Montgomery Co. in the early 1800's. I'm not pursuing this surname, just remember seeing them. Regards, Joan Dorie wrote: > > Hello to all, > > Searching for info on the family of James and Elizabeth (Welshans) > VanDyke/Vandike. Searching for info on my gg grandmother, Kathryn E. or Catherine SANDERS. She lived in Columbia Co. or Lycoming Co., PA -- or possibly in a surrounding county (Sullivan, Luzerne?) The only info I have on her comes from her daughter's (my g grandma's) death cert and from a recently-found distant cousin. Kathryn E? (middle initial is tough to read on the death cert)) SANDERS was born in PA and she married William LONG, also born in PA. Another source indicates Catherine SANDERS may have been Catherine Mary SANDERS. This same source indicates Catherine SANDERS was born in Nov 1844 in Jordan Twp, Lycoming Co; married in the same place in about 1864, and died there in 1911. Children of William LONG and Catherine Mary SANDERS were: Margaret A. LONG, b. 1866; Hester Margaretta LONG, b. 1868; Henrietta LONG (my g grandmother, married Clarence WELLIVER in 1890), b. 1870 or 1871 (her death cert states the latter); George W. LONG, b. 1879; and Boyd W. LONG, b. 1882. All of these children were probably born in Jordan Twp, Lycoming Co. Anybody out there see a connection? Thanks. Todd

I am trying to verify my grandmagreats birth record. Her name was Minnie May Miller. She was born on Sept. 17, 1880 or 1881 in either White Deer Creek Valley or Williamsport. Her fathers name was George Washington Miller (who owned a business of some kind), her mother was Sarah Catherine (surname unknown). Minnie may have had a brother, if so his name was Lloyd McClelland Miller. Minnie was first married to a man named Abraham Levi Welshans (who had a twin brother named Phillip). I live in Texas and would appreciate any help given. Thank you for your time, Mendy (Foor) Wofford also seeking info on WELSHANS, anywhere, anywhen, any spelling. ___________________________________________________________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it. Died Sept 1788 in Greenwood Twp, now Perry Co. He was on the COMMITTEE OF SAFETY during the Revolution for Northumberland. I have found mention of him or of his son in county history of Lycoming. Settled on island in river called Juniata, now Duncan. Time period 1753-1765. Was married to REBECCA GODFREY, thought to be daughter of THOMAS GODFREY of Phil. One of their six children was: MARCUS HULINGS JR. b. 1742 not sure where. d. Nov 20, 1809.. MYSTERY HERE...most books give a 1802 death date "somewhere in Tn." But in the CRAWFORD MESSENGER an obit was found for him listing the Nov 20, 1809 date in Northumberland Co, Pa. Where would this be? Where would he be buried. By then his family had settled in Franklin Co. wife MATSEY DOUGHERTY: Who were her parents..are they come Northumberland? Perry? LYCOMING? When did she die and where? This Marcus Hulings is listed as Ensign in the Rev but isn't in the Abstracts for Pensions. Any information on his military duty? Thank you,

Hi-- Im a returning list member, ISO Steinbacher, Eck/Egg/Ake, Baier, Bower/Bauer, Legge, Willison, Deemer & Gallagher cousins... Also I was wondering if anybody has relatives buried at Immaculate Conception Cemetery at Bastress? I was up in Williamsport (i live near Phila) last weekend--my 2 sets of grandparents live in Williamsport and Nisbet--and walked around the cemetery a bit, and found quite a few headstones that were 1/2 or more buried, or covered with ivy... Was wondering if anybody would like to help clean the cemetery some day maybe this summer or fall before it gets too cold? Its not a large cemetery, Id guess about 500 graves (im not too great with estimations, but it seems close), and about a 1/4 of the cemetery is considered "old", pre-1910s. Now my problem is that I dont live in Williamsport, but I would be more than happy to go up for a weekend or so. I could probably easily do the whole cemetery myself in a weekend, but would love help! Any ideas or suggestions welcome! Adrienne Gallagher.

Harold, The only Messiah Lutheran near White Deer that I know is in South Williamsport. Have you tried the White Deer Cemetery? Also there is a church and cemetery inside the grounds of the Federal Penn at White Deer. You can get in to look at it if you contact the Warden.
