I am reposting my family names hoping there is someone new out there who is tracing the same family. Below are the names: John Hannis (1810-1847) married Susan Belles (1816-1847) Children: Adam (1838-1906), Elizabeth (1842-?), James Polk (1845-1913) and Susan (1847-1897). Adam Belles (1788-1843) married Elizabeth Croop (1790-1873). Karen Hannis Herndon karenherndon@cccomm.net
Hi Karen, What information in particular are you looking for? I have a considerable amount of information on the Belles family. Neither my wife nor I are Belles descendants, but we both have connections to the Belles family. Brian mentioned the difference in Adam's date of birth between the church record and the tombstone record. I believe that Adam was born in 1790, not in 1789, for two reasons: 1. His baptismal record gives his birthdate as 12 November 1790 and that is the record which is closest to the date of the actual event. 2. A 12 November 1789 birth date would mean that he was born less than eight months after his brother Peter, which is highly unlikely. Larry mentioned an Adam Belles in Buck Township. That was Abram Belles and he does have a biography in Bradsby. Let me know what you are looking for and I will bet back to you.
