    1. [PALUZERN] Thomas AITKEN, Blacksmith, born 1844 in Walston, Scotland
    2. Jean & John Johnston
    3. Hello Listers, A member of my family was Thomas AITKEN, Blacksmith, born 1844, Walston, Lanarkshire, Scotland who married Margaret BERTRAM, born 1846, Dolphinton, Lanarkshire, Scotland and settled in West Pittston, PA. 1900 U.S.A. Census shows Thomas and Magarett (sic) Aitken at 13 Washington St., West Pittston, Luzerne, Pennsylvania: Number of children: 0 Number of children living: 0 In searching the records of the First United Presbyterian Church (formerly First Presbyterian Church) West Pittston, I discovered the name of Thomas Aitken in the Register of Elders. He was installed on 7 February 1892. Further in the church records are the names of Thomas Aitken and Mrs. Margaret Aitken (wife of Thomas) in the Register of Communicants. Both have 14 April 1889 as their "Date of Admission", both were received by "Certificate", both were "Dismissed" on 23 September 1901, and both went to "Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland", whereabouts not stated. The pastor of the First United Presbyterian Church between 1 January 1898 and 1 December 1908 was William R. Harshaw. I looked for their names in the West Pittston directories of 1905, 1911 and 1913 but there is no record of them there. I could not find this couple in the 1910 US census so they most probably died between 1900 and 1910. I would be most grateful for any assistance in determining their dates of death, place of burial, and obituaries if possible. Season's Greetings, John Johnston, Gisborne, New Zealand
