Hi All, Here are some suggestions that have worked for me. I have a Percosky family that I could not find. His name Alex and his mom Rose. Doing a search on Ancestry.com I tried just putting in the first 3 letters of the first name Ale* and then the *. I also put in an approximate date 1885 and gave it an error rate of 5 years and also place of birth Poland. That helped me start the search and to keep it as small as possible. It pulled up all the names that started with Ale born from 1880-1890 in Poland. I looked that silly list over and over for any spelling of Percosky. When that failed, I just started looking at each one of the hits it gave me. And I found them listed as Berowski. I would never have typed that in. The * gives it a wild card search. You can also limit the search by typing in Ale? and it will pull up all four letter names, the ? acts as a wild card letter. So, my suggestions is try searching by first names, birth dates etc. Carol > > I hope whoever has answers to these questions will post to the whole list > as > I think they pertain to many of us.
