    1. [PALUZERN] Irish Coal Miners in Scanton, PA
    2. Amine Chaar
    3. My Scanlon relatives were in Scranton, PA where Edward got his naturalization in 1874, he was a coal miner. Edward & Mary Quin were next in Virden, Illinois in 1880. On census records for 1880/1900 etc. the number of children were different. At one point she states 12 children born & 7 living. I've found all the children in Illinois 2 were born in Pennsylvania. I think Mary may have had children & they may have died in PA sometime between 1874 & 1878. My Scanlon's were Irish, arrived from Glasgow to New York in 1873. First 2 son's were born in Scotland & next 2 were born in PA 1874 & again in 1878 The rest of children born in Illinois. I have no idea of where in Scranton they lived & worked. I do know they were very good Catholics so if children were born/died they may be church information. Could someone give me some idea of what church/churches that were around in/near Scranton where irish coal miner may have attended. Also is there any civil records & where might I look for them?. Thanks, Gwen
