I am new to searching in Hazleton for my Bugel ancestors. I am trying to locate military records for George and John Bugel. I know they were in the Army for WWII and lived the rest of their lives in Hazleton,Pa. George, born 5/12/1905 and John, born 8/13/1910. I have tried Ancestry.com and they seem to have the registration for only the older brothers. The family came to Hazleton,Pa. from Austria or Slovakia. My mother-in-law always said they came from Austria. Any help would be appreciated. Delores C Jones dcj@dmv.com
Hi Delores, You probably saw the posting indicating the directories available at the Hazleton library for 1900-1910 are: 1900-01, 1901-2, 1904, 1909 I couldn't find an email address for the library, so I called tthem. 570-454-2961. Their website is at: http://www.hazletonlibrary.org/info/info.html The woman I spoke with seemed willing to check the directories for 1 name and tell me if it was listed. But she wasn't willing to record any details, etc. Plus, she asked me to give her a few day and to call back and she would tell me if she found the name I'm looking for (I'm supposed to call her today in fact, between 1-5). I would have liked a little more, but apparently their resources are very limited, so I appreciate that the was willing to give it a quick look. Best of luck, Rich DELORES <dcj@dmv.com> wrote: I am new to searching in Hazleton for my Bugel ancestors. I am trying to locate military records for George and John Bugel. About U.S. World War II Draft Registration Cards, 1942 This database is an indexed collection of the draft cards from the Fourth Registration, the only registration currently available to the public (the other registrations are not available due to privacy laws). The Fourth Registration, often referred to as the "old man's registration", was conducted on 27 April 1942 and registered men who born on or between 28 April 1877 and 16 February 1897 - men who were between 45 and 64 years old - and who were not already in the military. ------------------------------------------- About U.S. World War II Army Enlistment Records, 1938-1946 This database contains information on about 8.3 million men and women who enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II. While this database contains information on the majority of the men and women who served in the Army during this war, it is not complete and does not represent the entirety of the U.S. Army servicemen. ------------------------------------------- Debby Dew-Malecki - in South Carolina surmay@sccoast.net ----- Original Message ----- From: "DELORES" <dcj@dmv.com> To: <paluzern@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, April 07, 2007 10:34 AM Subject: Re: [PALUZERN] 1900-1910 Hazleton City Directory holdings at thelibrary > I am new to searching in Hazleton for my Bugel ancestors.
