Family legend has it that when Emma Uttrodt of Pittston immigrated to America from Germany on the Steamship Eider (arriving 10/13/1884) one of her children, a baby girl, died and was buried at sea. There's no mention of the baby that we can find on the ship manifest. Does anyone know how we could verify that? I would think that the ship would have to have a record of it, but darned if I can find it. I would appreciate any suggestions.
