Seeking information on the SCHATZ family of Hazleton. John SCHATZ and his wife Eliza appear in the 1900 federal census living at 322 Mine Street along with their children Justus b. 1881; John b. 1882; Fred b. 1884; Elizabeth b. 1890. Eliza continues to live at this address as head of household in 1910 and 1920. I have not been able to find them in the 1880 census. John SCHATZ immigrated from Germany in 1866 and married Eliza ca 1878. I suspect John may have died between 1900 and 1910 and may have been named John Augustus (Justus) SCHATZ. I would like to know the full name of Eliza and where and when they married. Also the date of death and place of burial of John. WOW! Two replies and two answers to my questions in less than an hour. You sure can't get any better than that. Thanks to Dalice and Pat I now know the maiden name of Eliza SCHATZ and also the death date for her husband, John SCHATZ. I also know now the name of the previously unknown child of the family who died before 1910, Clarence W. SCHATZ. This information opens up other possible avenues of research like naturalization and death certificates for John SCHATZ. I may yet find out where he originated in Germany. If anyone is researching this family or if anyone has any additional information on this family I would certainly appreciate hearing from you also. Again, my sincere thanks.
