There were a number of newspapers available: Gleaner/Luzerne Advertiser; Luzerne County Federalist; Susquehanna Intelligencer; Luzerne Democrat/Luzerne Union; Pittston Gazette; True Democrat; Union Leader/Luzerne Union; Wilkes-Barre Advocate; and others. You may want to contact the Luzerne County Historical Society, who has a bunch of old newspapers on microfilm.
