I stopped at St Mary's on my last trip to Scranton to see what their policies were, but I've been busy since then with other things and haven't gathered things together to try to request anything yet. I was told that we may not search the records ourselves as they're concerned abt preservation, that they handle requests only by mail, that they do the research on an as-time-allows basis, and that we should include $25 per hour for their time. Now, if you're requesting multiple items (as I will be eventually) I'm not sure what kind of time committment it will entail. What I thought to try was to send $25 with a note saying that they should let me know if there will be additional expenses. I only have a handle of people that I know of there, so I don't think there will be that much to research. Otoh, never having seen their records, I have no idea how time consuming they are to use.
