Trying to figure out why my husband's Italian great grandparents would move from Middletown, CT in 1882/1884 to Wilkes Barre. As far as we know, they had no other family in the US. Was there a large Italian community there at that time? From there they moved to Chicopee, MA. That's another question, how they ended up there. According to his daughter, he always wanted to live near "water". Is there a river that goes through Wilkes Barre? We know he was a seaman, so that would account for his love of water. Thank you, Joanne
