Another hint for the miracode index is... put into the search an unusual first name , fairly unusual, with or without a county. That always limited the number of hits quite a bit and most the time I found who I was looking for. Or, if someone was born in another country, put in to the search, surname country of birth (like Germany, Wales, whatever. this way you don't get all the Jones from Luzerne, but all the Jones from "country." Or you can put, surname county country of birth- that narrows your hits again. Another, and could be a bit time consuming, but if you are determined to find that elusive ancestor, you'll look at the many number of hits that show up like I did. And it's when I find the enumeration date and house visit number of one family and I know there are more families in that same area. I put in the search: county enumeration number, house visit number (one at a time, starting with the next number higher and working up from there. also doing the same thing and working one number backwards from the family I originally found.) I then called my mother and read the names off my list and most of the people she was able to tell me exactly where they lived in town and sometimes some info about them. Except for our relations, the extra info was of no use to me, but ...you still listen to the reminicing anyhows :-)) It's really interesting to hear the different stories and you learn more about the life and times of your relatives and their friends that lived in the same neighborhood. If you got someone in W. Nanticoke, a name...email me, I just might be able to tell you something about them :-))) I just need to consult "mom" By the way, Does Nash's Barber Shop still have the pool table in the back? And do the men still play chess/checkers on the table up front while they wait their turn for a haircut?
