    3. --0-1885563640-983401250=:14895 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline I would like to clarify a few points with individuals who participate in this list. I have been accused of advertising on this list. The most recent case involving my posting last evening regarding the wonderful job the Northeast Pennsylvania Genealogical Society has done in microfilming the records of St. Mary's Cemetery. This information will be available for sale by the Society in the near future (notice - no price, no details, just an FYI). I am proud to support any individual or organization who does something that has a positive impact upon local genealogy/history, and that includes the NEPGS. I will continue to do so. Secondly, it seems some individuals feel FolkFinders has somehow purchased or obtained a mailing list from RootsWeb. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY FALSE. FolkFinders provides information to individuals via e-mail, who have an interest in local genealogy/history. E-mail addresses are obtained from anyone who has contact with FolkFinders, as well as referrals to FolkFinders. I want everyone to know this - if anyone receives an e-mail from FolkFinders which they did not want, simply e-mail me and you will not receive additional correspondence. It is that simple. It is not meant to offend anyone, simply an attempt to provide a service. There is no conspiracy. Please do not think otherwise. I am a firm believer in teamwork, as well as professionalism. I am open to feedback, and often agree to disagree. For example, I agree with today's posting from Mr. Fehlinger regarding the conditions at the courthouse. It seems we all have our opinions, yet none of us are moving towards a solution - me included. Please let it be known that I do not always agree with people, including Tammy Lamb, however, I have the utmost respect for everyone. Be aware - this respect will not prevent me from speaking out when I feel necessary. I appreciate your time. The purpose of this e-mail was not to consume the list with discussion, simply to express my opinion and clear the air regarding these two issues. Thanks again. Respectfully Jim Smith www.folkfinders.com Note: forwarded message attached. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get email at your own domain with Yahoo! Technically, RootsWeb has a "no commercial use" policy. Like all RootsWeb policies, though, the last thing that we want is for policy to get in the way of our doing genealogy. Therefore, the PALUZERN list will accept brief announcements of books and other resource material for sale that is specifically related to this county. Don't include prices and ordering info; just include a pointer to a URL, a commercial mailing list, or an E-mail address where the complete ordering information can be found. In case of doubt, send the message to the list custodian, tamlamb@icontech.com, and I'll review it and forward it to the list if appropriate. This is one of the guidelines you received in your welcome message to PALUZERN. When posting information about the book the only thing that should be posted is that it is availale and their website address. Please be sure to stick to the guideline. I am also still receiving many emails from people complaining that either rootsweb has sold you or someone from your comapny a copy of their email addresses or that you or someone from your comapny are using the luzerne list as a way of contacting and promoting your folkfinders. I have tried many times to assure them that this is not the case. However after people forwarding me messages that came to them from your company I am starting to believe this may be the case. Please refrain from this poor practice.
