Hi Luzerne County, I am Gayle Thorpe Baar, originally of Scranton, PA, now of Irving, TX. I've been a member of the Lackawanna County list for some time and recently discovered that my great great grandmother was born in Luzerne County in the area of Larksville in 1852. This came after years of believing that all my ancestors came directly from somewhere in the British Isles and settled in the Scranton area. Mary Elizabeth MACKIE (nee HUGHES) was born in 1852 in Larksville, PA, according to the information obtained from the Dunmore Cemetery Association. In the 1900 census, Mary Elizabeth also lists both of her parents as being born in Pennyslvania so my quest now is to find information about them.
