    1. [PALUZERN] Update on Records for St. Mary's in Wilkes Barre

    3. Hi listers, I am writing, as promised, to let you know what I discovered during my trip to Wilkes Barre this past weekend relative to records for St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Wilkes Barre. I visited the Wyoming Historical and Geological Society on Franklin Street Saturday and they have a large black binder - probably 2-3 inches thick, containing xeroxed records from the church - baptism and death - probably marriage, but I didn't have time to look at the book very long. The copies are as good as can be expected - in long hand, naturally, and in Latin. It appeared that the records go back to the beginning of the Church - 1845 I believe, but again I'm not positive. Unfortunately, I got invloved in another aspect of my research and it was almost time to leave when I realized I hadn't looked into this, so my time was limited. I inquired if they had or were expecting to purchase the 4 volume set of cemetery records that the NorthEast Pennsylvania Genealogical Society recently published. The lady told me she believed they were to recieve a copy. I also ran into a person who has already ordered a set for her own use , but hasn't yet received it - so it may be a bit soon. All in all, good news! Regards, Ruth FOLEY RILEY Mt. Airy, MD Researching FOLEY/FOLLY, BRYAN/BRYANT, HOLLERAN/HOULIHAN __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
