Wilkes-Barre Evening Leader, Sat, Apr 12, 1890 MARRIAGES: Miss KATIE MEIGHAN of Dorranceton and R C LYNCH, of Athens, were united in the holy bonds of matrimony on Wednesday morning, in the church of St Ignatius, Kingston. The rite was solemnized by the Rev Father Kernan, of Dallas, in the presence of a large number of witnesses. Miss B QUINN, of Avoca, assumed with much grace the role of bridesmaid, while the duties of groomsman devolved upon JAMES MOORE, of Plymouth. Among the guests were: a brother of the bride, JAMES MEIGHAN, of Elmira, NY; Misses JENNIE and MAME WILD; JAMES LYNCH and family, and the Misses BRENLY of Plymouth; JOHN A MACK, and R A MULHALL, of Forty Fort. Mr and Mrs LYNCH left by train for Athens where they will reside. On Monday evening the wedding of THOMAS DOWNES, of Spinnymoor, England, and Miss LAVINIA JOSEPHINE MCDERMOTT of Auckland, England, were united in marriage at St Mary’s Church, Rev Father Jordan being the officiating clergyman. The bridegroom is the son of ROBERT DOWNES of Wilkes-Barre, and is employed by Charles Parrish. The bride is the daughter of MARTIN MCDERMOTT. JOSEPH RICE acted as groomsman, while Miss ANNIE DOWNES, sister of the groom, and Miss MAMIE MCDERMOTT, sister of the bride, were the bridesmaids. They will reside on Ross Street. T JONES, 10 North Sherman Street, aged 65 years. Deceased was a native of North Wales. Four adult children survive: W OWEN, of Wilkes-Barre; Mrs JANE M JONES and Mrs WM W JONES, of Utica, NY; and Mrs WM H FILLEY, of Clifton Springs, NY. Rev Samson Jones and Rev Hugh Davis officiated at the funeral services held last evening. The remains were taken to Quincy, Mass for interment this morning. In Scranton Apr 9 of nervous prostration, JOHN STEWART, aged 70 years At Edwardsville Apr 9, infant child of ANTHONY NELSON At Luzerne Borough, JOHN HANLEY At Dallas, Mrs JOHN PERRY At Georgetown Apr 10, by the bursting of a blood vessel, BRIDGET KANE, aged 19 years At Tunkhannock Apr 11, of complication of diseases, Judge C D GEARHART, aged 62 years. Deceased was a son of Dr HARRISON GEARHART and was born in Columbia Co in 1828. In 1860 he was census marshall of the county and in 1872 was appointed associate judge. Six children and his wife survive him: Mrs M H FRANTZ of Wilkes-Barre; Mrs JAMES H LEHR of Easton; Misses CATHERINE and EVA GEARHART of Tunkhannock; and GEORGE and HARMON, also of Tunkhannock. The funeral will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the house. At Hazleton Apr 10, Mrs JOHN ISRAEL At West Hazleton Apr 10, VALENTINE ALBERT, aged 45 years JENNIE, daughter of ALEXANDER and SARAH PATTERSON, aged 15 years, died at her home on North Washington Street yesterday of congestion of the brain. The funeral will be held Monday at 2 o’clock Ed, Phoenix
