>From The Plain Speaker, Hazleton, Pa. Monday Morning, April 28, 1890 ) Killed in The Mines. "On Saturday morning , 4/26/1890, at the Highland Colliery No. 2 operated by Markle & Co. Andrew Furey a miner was killed by a fall of coal. Mr. Furey had just put off a blast and had returned to the breast to see what the result was, when a portion of the roof fell on him crushing the life out instantly. Andrew Furey was about forty years old and has been resident of Old Pink Ash Jeddo borough for about twenty-five years and all of that time has been a worker in the mines. He has many relatives yet living in Foster township. Daniel Furey ex Poor Director is an uncle and Miss Furey a school teacher of that township is a sister of his. About fifteen years ago he married a daughter of John Carr's of Jeddo, who with five children survive him. We have knowledge yet when then the funeral will take place." Anyone with any information of any of the above will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Ed. Coles
