My ggm was named Elizabeth Jenkins. She was b. in Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan, Wales in January 1870. Her parents were Thomas Jenkins (b. abt 1843 in Glamorgan) and Miriam Ann (Davies)(b. abt 1846 in Glamorgan). According to census records from Wales, she had a brother named John, b. abt 1861 in Neath, Glamorgan and a sister named Susannah, b. abt 1876 in Glamorgan. Elizabeth immigrated to the U.S. and settled in Plains, PA, sometime before 1889. On Dec 27, 1889, she m. Edward Parry (b. Dec 1869 in Plains, d. Aug 10, 1897 in mining accident in Plains)in Plains. They had the following children: Thomas Edward, b. Sep 1890 Cordelia b. June 1892 Sarah Ann b. Jan 8, 1895 Miriam, b. Jan 27, 1897 After Edward's death, Elizabeth's brother John came to live with her in Plains and they bought a small store and ran it (this info from Sarah Ann many years ago). Elizabeth remarried. Her 2nd husband was Joseph D. Thomas (b. Mar. 9, 1859 in Wales; immigrated to U.S in 1882). They married on Aug 31, 1898 in Plymouth. Joseph was married previously (wife's name unknown) and had at least two children - James, b. Jan 1884 and Jane H. b. Jan 1886. Joseph and Elizabeth had the following children: John Arthur, b. June 23, 1899 in Plains Jeanette, b. May 9, 1901 in Plains James and Joseph B. b. Jan 2, 1904 (died before the age of 2) Eleanor Tersa, b. Dec 27, 1906 Elizabeth, Joseph and their family lived on Abbott St. in Plains between 1898 and 1900. They attended the Welsh Congregational Church. Elizabeth d. in Philadelphia on April 15, 1948.
