    1. [PALUZERN] Searching for ancestors of Gertrude Kemp
    2. S. A. Rankin
    3. Gertrude Kemp b. 19 Apr 1886, d. 23 May 1950 (both in W-B) m. 01 May 1904 to Daniel Dillon (1882-aft. 1950) f: Fred Kemp, b. in England m: Elizabeth Rowe, b. in PA I'm searching for KEMPs who lived in W-B in the 1880s. My g-grandmother was Gertrude Kemp, b. 1886, and her parents were Fred Kemp and Elizabeth Rowe. When Gertrude married Daniel Dillon, consent for the marriage was given by a "William Kemp". He is listed as Gertrude's "brother and guardian". This would seem to indicate that Fred must have been deceased by then or he would have been the one to give his consent. There's a Gertrude "Camp" in the 1900 census, living with her mother Elizabeth Camp a widow, in the 1900 census. This Elizabeth was the mother of six children, only one of whom was still living. This matches up with the family story that says Gertrude was an "only child", but not the "brother William" who consented to her marriage. I have found a number of Kemps in the W-B records but haven't been able to connect them to Gertrude yet. 1880 US Census, Pennsylvania, Luzerne county, Pittston township Kemp, Elizabeth,60,h,w,widow,Ire,Ire,Ire,noR/W Kemp, Edward,22,m,w,son,miner,Ire,Ire,Ire 1890 City Directory Fred Kemp, elevator operator, bds at 137 E. Gertrude's father, Fred, was reportedly born in England, so that part matches up.) Any information on the Kemp family during this time period would be extremely helpful.
