Dear Friends, I'd like to contact others with the above surnames in hopes of connecting to my McDONALD'S / McDONNELL'S who immigrated to Scranton in the early 1850's. MC DONALD, Ann, b, 1827 somewhere in Ireland, d, 9 August 1881, Scranton, PA. Immigrated to Scranton, PA about 1850, m: 1856, Michael HICKS, Scranton, PA. 7 children. Mary MC DONALD, was a godparent to first child, 1857. Need information on all MC DONALD’S in Scranton, PA in that time period. I believe Ann came to Scranton to join relatives or friends as she was a young girl in her early 20's. As yet I haven’t been able to connect her to other MC DONALD’S or MC DONNELL’S living there when she arrived. We don’t know where in Ireland she was born. I understand MC DONALD/MC DONNELL surnames were interchangeable. She and husband, Michael HICKS named their second (and only surviving) daughter, Sarah. I believe that’s not a common Irish name and might be the name of a grandmother of either Ann or Mary MC DONALD. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Mary L. Casey
