If it didn't have [PALUZERN] in the "from:" area then you didn't get it via the list. The only way to post to any rootsweb list is to subscribe, so its possible that someone can send something like that to the list, but not probable. It also could have been forwarded to the list by some other subscriber. In any case, I find it more fun to do my own leg work than to pay someone to do it for me. Betty, Either you missed my point or I failed to make my point clear. The only way this person (Jim from Folk Finders) would have known about my interest in PALUZERN would be through subscription to this Rootsweb mail list (PALUZERN). Many people replied to my message indicating they too have received these unsolicited Advertising/Promotional e-mails without being asked to be put on HIS mailing list. I am sure Jim must have obtained OUR e-mail addresses from our posts to the PALUZERN list. He may or may not be a subscriber to the list but could easily have obtained our addresses via our posts to PALUZERN in the Rootsweb archives. At the very least I am asking the List Owner of PALUZERN to verify that Jim from Folk Finders is not subscribed to the list. Also, anyone not wanting to receive these unsolicited e-mails from Folk Finders should reply to his unsolicited e-mail and ask to be removed from HIS list. He is required to honor your request. If you continue to receive his unsolicited e-mails after asking to be removed from his list, then you can report him to his ISP for unsolicited e-mail. Thank you, Nancy P.S. I have been told that any material offered for SALE at Folk Finders can be obtained elsewhere such as Libraries and Historical Societies. Please folks be careful about who you do business with. -----Original Message----- From: Betty Thomas [mailto:bettythomas@charter.net] Sent: Sunday, January 14, 2001 12:58 PM To: rascalz@worldnet.att.net; PALUZERN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [PALUZERN] Luzerne County Genealogy Update The only people who have access to your address are rootsweb and your listowner.
