Madge, Thank you for your input. I have requested an obit lookup and am waiting for a reply. I found Lawrence H. Smith in "The History of Wyoming Valley " and also "The History of Luzerne County" , but no real info. The Harrington I researched was John Harrington, born in England in 1830, came to America as a child. According to the censuses he lived in Schuylkill Co., Carbon Co, and Luzerne County, Hazleton. He was a Colliery Engineer.. He had a son George, born in 1868 who was a physician. Doris
I have been researching my husband's grandparents, Andrew I Flemming and (Anne) Delores) Devers. They died as the result of an automobile accident in the fall of 1920. This week I received the death certificate for Andrew. From this I confirmed the name of his father, Edward Flemming and learned the maiden name of his mother, (Katherine) Louise Sullivan. I bit suprising as my maiden name is Sullivan...... I would like some advice in regarding based on the following information as where next to search as we do not live in the area:- Andrew died on Nov 14, 1920 in City Hospital, Wilke-Barre, PA. He was listed as having been a widower but we know he and his wife both died in a car accident. On his death certificate it states that he was "10 days" ill. That would possibly mean that his wife died instantly ten days before. My questions are two: 1.) Could someone look up a obituary and or related articles for Andrew and his wife from about Nov 4 to 17, 1920 in a Plymouth PA newspaper? Andrew was a owner of a Hotel on 25 W Main St Plymouth at the time of his death. I also confirmed that occupation with the 1920 census. and 2.)from the death certificate it is hard to read but I can make out it that he was buried on Nov 18, 1920 in a St Mary's (unreadable) Cemetery in Plymouth PA. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any help is most appreciated. Eileen
D Some of the sanitariums were in East Side Borough which is Carbon County just over the Lehigh River. Many people still call it White Haven because it is the White Haven Area. It would be helpful to have a first name to look for. Even if he is in an institution his name will be listed. Carol > > > > I'm still searching for a family name of Cinanni/Cinani. Doris: My father was also a physician in Luzerne County 30 years later. You might find something of interest by writing to the Luzerne County Medical Society. Also the Wilkes-Barre Record. I don't know its publishing dates, however. Parents are usually listed on death records. Is one available? Madge (Hazlett) Johns P.S. I have Harringtons from Columbia County.
Today we located his baptism certificate. His name was listed on that in Itallian. It is Angelo Cinanno (the original Angelo in Italian appears different) Born on Oct 25 1913 in Hazleton PA :) D. -----Original Message----- From: paluzern-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:paluzern-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of postalq@grnco.net Sent: Monday, October 23, 2006 12:43 PM To: paluzern@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [PALUZERN] White Haven PA question It would be helpful to have a first name to look for. Hi Wayne, I looked thru the census for 1920 & 30 just to be sure but his name doesn't appear as a patient. I didn't think he would, as he didn't have TB. He was either deaf/mute or deaf/mute and somehow mentally disabled. BUT he was able to write letters to his family according to my research. BUT none of those letters have survived. I'm wracking my brain trying to think of where else to look. The surviving family is positive he was sent to White Haven somewhere, and then later possibly Springfield. White Haven had several places for people with Tuberculosis(?). In particular a large center on Green Mountain just south of what is now I-80. Hi all~ I'm still searching for a family name of Cinanni/Cinani. Specifically I'm searching for a man born between 1911-1915 who was I think named Angelo Cinanni/Cinani. He was deaf/mute and was sent to live in some type of institution in White Haven PA possibly sometime around 1915 or 1916? White Haven is in Luzern County. Does anyone know of any institutes or schools for the deaf, etc? I'm not sure if this person is still alive, or dead as I can't find any leads so far. Thanks! d
