    2. Bobbi
    3. Hi all, I'm trying to determine the English or American version of the German first name "Balthas", and having no luck on the Internet. My ancestor left Germany as a child in 1852 as Balthas Goetzer with brothers named Jakob and Josef. The next record I find of the family lists only 2 sons, Jakob and Paul, both born in Germany. Would I be stretching things to assume that the Paul in the 1860 census was the Balthas who left Germany in 1852? Unfortunately, there were no ages listed for the family on the emigration record, so his age in the census (10) only tells me he was a child when he left Germany. Thanks in advance for your kind attention, Bobbi

    3. having an ancestor with this name as well, I'll suggest to you to look also at variations, such as Baltus, Baltzus, Baltzer, Leabultus, Lebaltus, etc... Although I've never heard of anyone with this name americanizing it, most instances I've seen of it usually were prior to 1850's. 2. I have spent many hours looking for any on-line records i.e birth and death indexes, marriage, property deeds and transfers, obits etc. any and all public records. Does anyone know of any sites that have these types of records on-line for Luzerne county? For anyone whose search may lead them to Cleveland, Ohio--all these records are on-line. 3. Hi, she may well be living by herself. That's why I said possibly living with her daughter. So, she may be listed as Head. I believe her birthplace was Pennslyvania. But I doubt there are any others with that surname living in Luverne Co. That's why I didn't specify and other stats on her. I found in the 1880 census where it said she was born about 1855 (but I question that year). She is probably still listed as married, as her husband was working and living in a separate county in 1910 (and also listed as married in his 1910 census record in Cambria Co). I know she was still living, because his obit in 1913 stated his wife lived in the different county of Luverne, PA. I suppose it is also possible that her husband William is listed with her in the Luverne Co census record; she could have recorded him living with her in Luverne county as well as he being recorded where he worked and lived in Cambria Co. I've seen families recorded in more than one place before.. Thanks, Rich Christilou <clm9345@earthlink.net> wrote: Finding various spellings but so far not as mother/mother-in-law.
