JOHN GRUBER married Elizabeth Hahn (second wife). Their son THOMAS GRUBER born 27 April 1835 Plainfield, Northampton Pa. moved to Luzerne County and married Cynthia Baker. Thomas went away to the Civil War and his wife CYNTHIA BAKER-GRUBER was pregnant with child and died during birth about 1864 in Luzerne Co., Pa. She is buried in Pittston Cemetery, I understand. Am told it is St. Casimir's Cemetery. I am trying to find who JOHN GRUBER'S parents were. I understand they lived in Wyoming, Pa. and there were other children ADLINE GRUBER and SALLY ANN GRUBER. I am researching my GRUBER-GRUVER family history so am interested in any GRUBER or GRUVER names. Particularly trying to find who and where JOHN GRUBER'S parents were and where they lived. JOHN GRUBER would have been born about 1810 or 1811. Thank you for your assistance. Louise Gruver-Magee H. C. R. #70, Box 534B Amargosa Valley, Nevada 89020-9604 775-372-5547 lmagee@pahrump.com

When I was at the Osterhout Library, the information booth gave me a booklet that had the numbers for the census reels(?). I read the whole booklet. Somewhere towards the back, I found an entry that said (Exact entry not remembered): Searchers book. A place to record who and where you are searching. Well, I asked about it. Seems like the book is at Wilkes University. Does anyone know of, or seen, this book? It would prove to be a very valuable tool. Just a curious person, I guess. Hello Fellow Listers, I have been away from the list for a couple of years, but am returning to my Luzerne County roots for the next 6 months. Could someone kindly refresh my memory about where (or if) I might be able to locate early interment records for the Wilkes-Barre City Cemetery? Specifically, I am looking for further information about William E. LEWIS, who died in a mine accident at Henry Colliery on 25 Feb. 1886. I have a number of newspaper article transcriptions about the accident, but am interested in exactly where he is buried and other interment information. Thanks to Tammy's excellent County GenWeb site, I found out just yesterday that he was buried at City Cemetery. Thank you very much. It's good to be among you again. Jane R. J. Frankenfield was born 25 August 1903, died 12 November 1947, and was buried in the Rippletown Cemetery. He was a son of David W. Frankenfield and Blanch Swartwood. There is no information on his marriage. His siblings were: Ethel married Frank Shinert; Mary, b. April 1909, married Arthur Singer; Ruth, d. 1933, married but name not given; and Charles B., b. 29 May 1910, married Margaret Moyer. Charles and Margaret were the parents of Margaret, Charles, Ruth, John "Jack," and Lois. Jack was one of my high school classmates as was Evelyn Drendall. Robert Frankenfield's wife was Sylvia Bloom, daughter of Joseph Bloom and Marion Jay. She was born 1 January 1900 and died 1 March 1988. She married [2] 24 November 1948 as his third wife Raymond Roscoe Rinehimer who taught math at Fairview High School. He was born 20 November 1896 and died in January 1971. On their marriage license [Luzerne Co. #423H] Sylvia stated that her previous husband died 13 November 1947. There is some discrepancy here in Robert Frankenfield's date of death. I hope this helps. David

It came about this way. Miss JENNIE PHILLIPS, of this city, went to the Delaware Water Gap, to visit friends; this was also the destination of SAMUEL. They rode together on the same train, in the same car, and in the same seat. The journey was quite long, but none too long for SAMUEL, who suggested to JENNIE, that they prong the trip through life.
